In partnership with Abin Design Studio (ADS), the AR has published Making Places, a monograph on Abin Chaudhuri’s practice examining projects in Adisaptagram and Bansberia. From the shaping of design briefs to the crafting of brickwork, Making Places is interested in Abin Design Studio’s commitment to Kolkata’s peri-urban landscapes and communities. The alliances they form on the ground and their desire to increase the architect’s agency will find echoes elsewhere in the world and could inspire other modes of practice. With contributions by Manon Mollard, A Srivathsan, Alejandro Echeverri, Catherine Slessor, Anupama Kundoo and Marina Tabassum, the publication also features case studies of recently completed buildings in Adisaptagram and Bansberia.
