Además de la insoslayable posición personal y de las necesarias consultas con quienes comparto reflexiones y preocupaciones teóricas y políticas, he acudido a múltiples ventanas de aproximación. La primera, casi forzosa, es la consideración del período, sin dejar de lado sus antecedentes que contribuyen a una comprensión coherente e integral, pues la historia es mucho más que la sucesión cronológica. En esta misma dirección de orden temporal, también se ha tenido en cuenta la relativa actualidad del texto seleccionado respecto de las circunstancias del presente que vivimos. Otra dimensión privilegiada tiene que ver con la relación o incidencia de los documentos con las luchas sociales y políticas, así como con los debates y controversias de las ciencias sociales frente a los debates de nuestro tiempo, apreciando el protagonismo y la influencia del respectivo autor. Y, obviamente, se ha tenido la precaución de matizar el conjunto con los aspectos claves de la controversia en nuestra sociedad, empezando por la realidad del conflicto social y armado que por decenios ha caracterizado el acontecer nacional, y los problemas económicosociales que le están asociados. Igualmente, han sido estimadas como referencias pertinentes la plurietnicidad, la perspectiva de género y la cuestión ambiental. Como el lector podrá apreciar, esta ha sido la respuesta ciertamente insuficiente, injusta y excluyente, al desafío de construir una antología de quienes como intelectuales han sido actores centrales, durante el período antológico, de las múltiples expresiones de la controversia y confrontación del orden social vigente.

Dealing with global fields of action is one of the scientific and practical core tasks of the Center for Applied Cultural Studies. The book "Globalization and Responsibility" consists of 8 chapters. The chapters in the book offer a decentered and dynamic terminology. They show that globalization consists of not only an objective process, but also of a lot of statements that define, describe and analyze the different experiences of the process. The chapters are written by authors and researchers from different academic disciplines, cultures and social contexts, therefore different experiences and scientific analyses on the consequences of globalization have been unified, starting from the multicultural and social epistemology to ethics of responsibility.
