Die aktuelle Debatte über stark steigende Grundstückspreise und Mieten findet in dieser Untersuchung ihr historisches Fundament: Das Buch zeigt, wie intensiv in der Bundesrepublik bereits nach 1960 über das gleiche Problem gestritten wurde. Als Schuldige galten profitgierige "Spekulanten", denen unmoralische Geschäftsmethoden vorgeworfen wurden. Anhand zahlreicher Fallbeispiele - aus Frankfurt am Main, München, Hamburg, Köln und West-Berlin - untersucht Karl Christian Führer sowohl das konkrete Geschehen auf den Märkten für Grundstücke und Wohnraum als auch die zahlreichen Proteste gegen die "Spekulation" mit Immobilien, etwa durch Hausbesetzungen, bis 1985. Er verzichtet dabei auf vorschnelle Urteile und analysiert die Prozesse konsequent im Kontext der bundesdeutschen Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte. Ein zentral wichtiger Aspekt der jüngeren Vergangenheit wird damit auf innovative Weise differenziert dargestellt, denn Grundstücke und Wohnungen sind wohl das Wirtschaftsgut, an dem sich die soziale und kulturelle Dimension ökonomischen Handelns besonders eindringlich nachweisen lässt. Der moralisierende Begriff der "Spekulation" hilft wenig, wenn man Veränderungen auf diesem Markt verstehen will. Karl Christian Führer analyzes events in the real estate markets in major cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, and West Berlin and the heated debate about speculation before 1985. He shatters popular notions while offering salient new data for an informed discussion about freedom and regulation in the housing market.

Diese Arbeit entwickelt eine Entscheidungshilfe für die Auswahl von regelgebundenen, selektiven Wechselkurssicherungsstrategien auf Unternehmensebene. Neben einer Auseinandersetzung mit den Grundlagen der betrieblichen Sicherungsgeschäfte, des Corporate Hedgings, folgt die allgemeine Analyse der Relevanz der Wechselkursproblematik im Lichte der Betriebswirtschaftslehre des Außenhandels. Ein weiterer Teilbereich wird der modernen Internationalen Portfoliotheorie entlehnt und widmet sich der Systematik regelgebundener selektiver Absicherungsstrategien. Anschließend werden die vorgestellten regelgebundenen, selektiven Wechselkurssicherungsstrategien anhand eines Backtests hinsichtlich ihrer Effizienz und Auswirkungen auf ein exportorientiertes Unternehmen untersucht und mit unterschiedlichen Maßzahlen in Bezug zu einander gesetzt.

Das Gesetz gibt in geradezu dogmatischer Weise vor, welche Strassenzuege zu welchen Zuschlaegen berechtigen und greift damit stark in das regionale Preisgefuege und dessen Entwicklung ein. Following the survey of history of the LisbonExchange published in 1996 by David Justino, the present text extendsthat medieval period to the Nineteenth century analysis to the presentday. Many other Stock Exchanges in Europe and elsewhere have beenstudied and published by many authors, but no comparable book forPortugal has existed until the present work. The text is accessible tomedium-knowledge readers. In a world of internationalization ofcorporations and financial institutions it is paramount that they beable to mobilize the capacities of the Capital Market to finance theeconomy,and to possess a thorough understanding of the role of a Stock Exchangefor the efficient working of that market. Portugal is a case of greatinterest to developing countries, as it was able to re-instate themarket after 1974, and with such success that the country joined theEuropean Union in 1986 and the innovative Euronext Group of StockExchanges in 2002. The book discloses for the first time a database usedto calculate a share index that was developed over three years with thehelp of the FCT grant PTDC/HISHIS/100132/2008, and using a methodologythat makes that index comparable to common international indices andcompatible with the General Index computeddaily by the Exchange.
