This book brings together an updated version of the canonical text "Work, Play and Vocation" with other essays that represent a crucial contribution to the problematization of specific topics in the field of Physical Education and Sport, approached with conceptual rigor and the clarity that characterizes Adriana Marrero's communicative style. From the development of key concepts of classical and contemporary sociological theory on modernity and its radicalization, the specific teaching practice of the Physical Education Teacher is analyzed, the particular contradictions that run through it and its effects on the subjectivities of its actors. The proposal accounts for the difficulty of harmonizing demands and expectations from an altruistic and vocational concept of teaching, on the one hand, with the harsh working conditions of the field and its instrumental logic on the other, against the background of powerful social and cultural representations of Physical Education, which associate play and recreation with leisure and lack of effort. Title in English: Voleyball for coaches and teachers The text summarizes modern knowledge about educational methods in sports games with an emphasis on contactless sport volleyball. The text contains education program for the students of Volleyball Coaching and respects the structure of volleyball qualification classes of the Czech Volleyball Federation. Another benefit is the synthesis of the coaches education in the Czech Volleyball Federation and the academic environment represented by the Faculty of Sports Studies at MU.

A total of 11 manuscripts focused on different topics related to youth and sports practice are published in this book. Three papers focus on aspects of physical performance, five papers provide innovative findings in relation to anthropometry and body composition features, one paper examines the difficulties in running online physical education classes in the context of COVID-19, and two focus on the influence of training strategies on muscle strength and blood pressure.

In de negentiende eeuw stond de Kerk eerder afwijzend tegenover alles wat met lichaamscultuur te maken had. Onder maatschappelijke druk kwam qgeleidelijk aan een meer positieve houding tot stand ten opzicht van lichamelijke opvoeding en sport. In 1892 werd de Belgische Katholieke Turnbond gesticht als overkoepelend orgaan van vele lokale turnkringen. Het schoolvak lichamelijke opvoeding werd jarenlang gekenmerkt door een strijd tussen het Duitse turnen en de Zweedse gymnastiek. Het duurde tot 1993 vooraleer twee lesuren lichamelijke opvoeding veralgemeend werden ingevoerd in het katholiek onderwijs. De moderne sport, die in de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw uit Engeland kwam overwaaien, stuitte aanvankelijk op verzet in Vlaamse katholieke middens. De collegeleerlinge raakten echter volledig in de ban de voetbalsport en reeds vanaf 1908 werd de Kardinaalsbeker betwist tussen de katholieke scholen. Ook de jeugdbewegingen gingen selectief lichamelijke opvoeding en sport in hun werking opnemen. Verder wordt in deze bundel de betekenis geschetst van enkele merkwaardige figuren: Pater van Cl.

Les co-organisateurs de la 24e Université Sportive d'Été (l'Union Nationale des Clubs Universitaires et l'Union Syndicale des Journalistes Sportifs de France), accueillie à Nîmes par le Sport Université Nîmes Omnisports (SUN) du 22 au 24 septembre 2006, avaient jugé opportun d'engager une réflexion sur les possibilités d'une mise en relation de la réalité de départ qu'est le handicap, de l'activité qu'est le sport, de l'objectif qu'est l'intégration. Ils faisaient le pari qu'une conception novatrice de la pratique des activités physiques et sportives - organisée au sein du cadre associatif des clubs - peut être de nature à ouvrir la voie à une intégration réussie. Restait cependant en suspens l'interrogation relative à la latitude d'intervention que peuvent s'autoriser les associations sportives, à propos d'une action éducative aussi délicate à saisir dans ses traits généraux que dans la nécessaire diversité des situations possibles. Le présent volume des Cahiers de l'USE est le fruit de ces travaux. Si le club sportif est en mesure d'ouvrir des perspectives innovantes, il ne saurait agir seul. Il lui faut rechercher des partenariats choisis et indispensables. Ces acteurs impliqués doivent être capables de se doter des outils nécessaires pour appréhender la spécificité des handicaps. L'enrichissement de la vie collective et sportive, par l'intégration des personnes en situation de handicap, suppose de pouvoir satisfaire à toutes ces exigences.
