The present work is dedicated to the study of the artistic work of the Russian poet Konstantin Michajlovič Fofanov (1862 - 1911). He was one of the best-known, if not the most famous and beloved poets in Russia in the eighties. The oeuvre Fofanovs may also claim an interest in being examined in a monographic representation, since the poet was not only a fashionable mass author, but was also regarded as pioneer and appreciated by more important, especially symbolist poets. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist der Untersuchung des künstlerischen Werks des russischen Dichters Konstantin Michajlovič Fofanov (1862 - 1911) gewidmet. Er war in den achtziger Jahren einer der bekanntesten, wenn nicht der bekannteste und beliebteste Dichter in Rußland. Das Oeuvre Fofanovs darf darüber hinaus auch deshalb ein Interesse beanspruchen, in einer monographischen Darstellung untersucht zu werden, da der Dichter nicht nur modischer Massenautor war, sondern auch von bedeutenderen, insbesondere symbolistischen Dichtern als Wegbereiter angesehen und geschätzt wurde.

The focus of this work is the prose of the Leningrad late avant-gardist Konstantin Vaginov (1899-1934). The aim is to develop a terminology and a concept by means of which the special type of text of the late avant-garde meta-novel Vaginovian style can be adequately described. Im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit steht die Prosa des Leningrader Spätavantgardisten Konstantin Vaginov(1899- 1934). Ziel ist es, eine Begrifflichkeit und ein Konzept zu erarbeiten, mittels deren die spezielle Textsorte des spätavantgardistischen Meta-Romans Vaginovscher Prägung angemessen beschrieben werden kann.

Panegyrik ist der wohl prägendste Sprechgestus spätantiker Literatur und basiert auf einem Kommunikationsgefälle zwischen laudator und laudandus. Wegen seiner Vielgestaltigkeit in Prosa und Dichtung steht hinter ihm kein kanonischer Gattungsbegriff, sondern eine literarische Technik, die in zahlreichen Textformen wie Epigrammen, Epen oder Reden Anwendung fand. Mit dem Werk des Dichters Publilius Optatianus Porfyrius, vermutlich entstanden zwischen 317 und 326 n. Chr., vollzieht sich eine mediale Neuausrichtung spätantiker Panegyrik. Seine Figuren-, Gitter- und Versspielgedichte transformieren das klassische Setting einer Lobrede in ein komplexes Wechselspiel zwischen laudator und laudandus. Performativ lässt der Dichter Kaiser Konstantin den Großen als individuellen und intimen Leser seiner carmina auftreten. In Abgrenzung zu zeitgenössischen Prosapanegyriken schreibt Optatian dem Kaiser die Rolle eines literarischen Co-Akteurs zu, der durch seine Lektüre aktiv an der Text- und Sinnkonstruktion seines panegyricus beteiligt ist. Seine Gedichte überführen das klassische Kommunikationsgefälle zwischen laudator und laudandus in ein Modell, bei dem beide Instanzen am Zustandekommen der panegyrischen Botschaft arbeiten. To honor the 20th year of his reign, Emperor Constantine was given what may be the most precious gift of his lifetime: a codex of artistic panegyrics and odes dedicated to him by the poet Optatianus. Optatianus' poems showcase the poetic talent of their creator and go beyond the classical confines of a panegyric: they form a literary invitation to an intellectual bond between laudator and laudandus.

Die Einstellung Konstantins des Großen zum Christengott und die Motive und Ziele der Politik des Kaisers gegenüber den Christen und ihrem Klerus sind bis heute umstritten. In Auseinandersetzung mit der Forschung der letzten 150 Jahre bietet der Autor zunächst eine in verschiedenen Einzelaspekten neue Rekonstruktion der Abwendung Konstantins vom Paganismus und seiner Hinwendung zum Christentum in den Jahren 310 bis 312. Analysiert werden sodann im Kontext des Aufstiegs zur Alleinherrschaft seine frühesten Selbstzeugnisse als Christ, seine 312 massiv einsetzende ideelle und materielle Förderung von christlichem Klerus und Kirchengemeinden und seine Rolle als ,Bischof der Bischöfe' (episcopus episcoporum, pontifex maximus) bis zu seinem Tod 337. Dabei kommt auch seine Politik gegenüber den nichtchristlichen Religionen zur Sprache. Maßgebend war, so zeigt sich, nicht der Gedanke der ,Toleranz', sondern angesichts der überwältigend großen Mehrheit der Nichtchristen in den Führungsschichten von Armee und Gesellschaft und in der Reichsbevölkerung insgesamt der Gesichtspunkt der ordnungspolitischen Opportunität. Konstantin strebte keine Parität, keinen Pluralismus, keine Koexistenz der Religionen an: das Christentum sollte zur alleinigen Reichs- und Weltreligion werden.
