In deze praktijkgids wordt uitgebreid ingegaan op alle aspecten van de relatie tussen de lokale besturen (gemeenten en provincies) en de besturen van de eredienst.Na een schets van de doelstellingen en de krachtlijnen van het eredienstendecreet komen de erkenning van plaatselijke kerk- en geloofsgemeenschappen aan bod, en worden de bevoegdheden van het centraal bestuur en de afspraken met de gemeente (provincie) toegelicht. Ook wordt stil gestaan bij de verplichtingen van de lokale besturen tegenover de besturen van de eredienst en de bedienaars van de eredienst. De rol van de lokale besturen bij het financieel beheer en op de wijze waarop het college van burgemeester en schepenen (de deputatie) en de provinciegouverneur toezicht houden op de besturen van de eredienst, maar ook de opmaak van het kerkenbeleidsplan en de gevolgen daarvan op de subsidiëring van restauraties en her- en nevenbestemmingen worden uitgebreid toegelicht.Afsluitend staat de auteur stil bij de wijzigingen van de erkenningen van de plaatselijke kerk- en geloofsgemeenschappen

In this book, the authors analyse the full spectrum of the issue, including the emergence of such laws; the political discussions; the standpoints defended in the media by professionals, ethicists, and politicians; the votes in the parliaments; the political interventions of the Episcopal conferences; and the attitude of professionals. As a result the reader understands what was at stake and the differences in actions of the various Episcopal conferences. The authors also analyse the pro and con evaluations among the civil population of such actions by the Church. Finally, in a comparative synthesis, they discuss the public positions taken by Pope Francis to evaluate if a change in Church policy might be possible in the near future.
