Het STAM - Stadsmuseum Gent - is geen klassiek historisch museum. Het was en is integendeel een trendsetter in de hedendaagse aanpak van een stadsmuseum als kennis- en belevingscentrum. Aan de hand van meer dan 300 tot de verbeelding sprekende collectiestukken en interactieve multimedia vertelt het STAM het verhaal van de ontwikkeling van Gent van zijn vroegste ontstaan tot op heden. In het historisch kader van de 14de-eeuwe Bijlokeabdij - gecombineerd met een smaakvolle nieuwbouw - wordt getoond wat Gent tot Gent maakt. In een reis door de tijd worden de vele lagen van Gent zichtbaar. Een middeleeuwse grootstad groeit via periodes van bloei en verval, culturele en intellectuele hoogconjunctuur, industrialisatie en verpaupering uit tot een hedendaagse stad van kennis en cultuur. Het 'Collectieboek STAM' is geen klassieke catalogus waarbij alle collectiestukken uitvoerig beschreven worden. Het verhaal van de stad wordt verteld aan de hand van een aantal grote thema's waarbij de museale voorwerpen illustratie en leidraad vormen. Ook de architectuur van de schitterende museale site komt ruim aan bod. Een boek over het museum, maar tegelijkertijd het verhaal van Gent.

2016 marks exactly 500 years since the English humanist and statesman Thomas More published in the city Leuven his world-famous book Utopia. Leuven is celebrating this milestone with a major city festival featuring exhibitions, street art, film, music, theatre, dance, literature, lectures and city walks. The cornerstone is the international, art historical exhibition 'In Search of Utopia' at M - Museum Leuven. The festival will officially start on Monday, 26 September 2016 after a festive opening weekend on 24 and 25 September and will end on 17 January 2017. In the book 'In Search of Utopia? the reader is introduced to the world of More and his friends, with the ideals and dreams of the times. The desire of far-away horizons and the cobweb of new sciences that patiently layed upon the reality. Magnificent works of the 15th- and 16th Century artists: Quinten Metsijs, Hans Holbein, Jan Gossaert en Albrecht Dürer are being brought together in this exciting and intriguing story. It shows in an unexceeded way the imagination of an ideal world.
