Insiang habite un bidonville de Manille avec sa mère, la tyrannique Tonya. Les deux femmes hébergent également la famille du père, parti du domicile conjugal avec sa maîtresse. Insiang se démène corps et âme pour survivre dans ce quartier où chômage et alcoolisme font partie intégrante du quotidien. Elle ne cesse de presser son petit ami Bebot de l'épouser afin de quitter ce lieu de misère au plus vite. Un jour, Tonya chasse sa belle-famille de chez elle et ramène à la place son nouvel amant, Dado, le caïd du quartier, en âge d'être son fils. Ce dernier tombe rapidement sous le charme de sa nouvelle "belle-fille"...Après "Manille", Lino Brocka réalise ici un mélodrame social fortement ancré dans la réalité sociale d'un bidonville de la capitale. Un très beau film à la fois lyrique et revendicateur.

"Urban green growth policies encourage economic development while reducing negative environmental externalities and the consumption of natural resources and environmental assets. This report is the fourth case study in the OECD Urban Green Growth in Dynamic Asia project. It explores policies and governance systems to promote green growth in Metro Cebu, Philippines, and provides recommendations for enhancing Cebu's green growth potential. Metro Cebu is the second most populated urban area of the Philippines after Metro Manila. Its economic growth has been impressive. However, it faces many challenges that hinder its sustainable growth in areas such as land use and the provision of basic urban services--transportation, energy, solid waste, and water security. Ongoing development offers numerous opportunties for the metro area to shift towards the cleaner sustainable model which the concept of green growth offers."--Page 4 of cover.

It examines the role of toleration, rights, and mediation in the postcolony. Through the biographies of four Filipino scholar-bureaucrats--Camilo Osias, Salvador Araneta, Carlos P. Romulo, and Salvador P. Lopez--Lisandro E. Claudio argues that liberal thought served as the grammar of Filipino democracy in the 20th century. By looking at various articulations of liberalism in pedagogy, international affairs, economics, and literature, Claudio not only narrates an obscured history of the Philippine state, he also argues for a new liberalism rooted in the postcolonial experience"--
