"The surest way to create a viable business is to envision one that truly matters. Whether you dream of opening a neighborhood store or building a global brand, whether your business will ultimately employ thousands, or only yourself, most aspiring entrepreneurs struggle to create businesses that are viable. And, few dare to dream of businesses that really matter. But this is precisely what every aspiring entrepreneur should do. ?Mattering? isn't about size, it's about creating meaning ? for yourself, your team and your customers. Businesses that create meaning for people tap into the hearts and souls of their founders, teams, and customers in powerful ways. This level of passion infuses the startup with a special kind of durability that will be essential in the hard road ahead. In his journey of co-founding and leading a billion-dollar company, Rick Stollmeyer has experienced tens of thousands of business startups. In every case, the ones that truly matter and the ones that are still here today have four characteristics: A purpose greater than itself, a clear and consistent strategy that aligns with the purpose, effective leaders who embody the purpose, and a team aligned around core values that serve that purpose. This book is about infusing your business plan with these four elements and achieving your business goals"--

English learners (ELs) are 10 percent of U.S. students; in some states, they comprise as much as 20 percent of the student body. Despite continued growth in the EL population, schools nationwide have struggled to support ELs, and researchers consistently find wide, persistent academic achievement disparities between ELs and non-ELs. Equitable access to academic content is critical in addressing persistent achievement gaps between ELs and native English speakers, but schools and teachers face several challenges in enabling this access. Teachers report feeling inadequately prepared to work effectively with ELs and might lack of core subject-area materials and tools that are accessible to ELs or that provide language scaffolding. In this Data Note, researchers draw on data from the spring 2020 American Instructional Resources Survey to examine both teachers' perceptions of whether their main English language arts, mathematics, and science materials meet the needs of ELs and the modifications that teachers make to make those materials more appropriate for this population.

There is growing demand for the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS) to analyze sensor data. Getting the right intelligence to the right people at the right time is increasingly difficult as the amount of data grows and timelines shrink. The need to exploit all collections limits the ability of analysts to address higher-level intelligence problems. Current tools and databases do not facilitate access to needed information. Air Force/A2 asked researchers at RAND Project AIR FORCE to analyze how new tools and technologies can help meet these demands, including how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can be integrated into the analysis process. PAF assessed AF DCGS tools and processes, surveyed the state of the art in AI/ML methods, and examined best practices to encourage innovation and to incorporate new tools.

"In this biography of Johann Ernst Gerhard (1621-1668) Asaph Ben-Tov offers a study of a now forgotten yet unusually well documented seventeenth-century orientalist. Gerhard, the son of the famous Lutheran theologian Johann Gerhard, is not a towering figure but rather a fascinating representative of the academic culture of his day, especially of seventeenth-century Oriental studies. His extant Nachlassallows a close scrutiny of the life and work of an early modern scholar, focussing on his training, travels, the ambitious Harmonia linguarum Orientalium (1647) and other works, and the interests he fostered as a professor of history and theology in Jena. It aims to shed light on the broad and understudied field of Oriental studies in seventeenth century Germany"

This work is a result of study for the doctoral degree of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, India. The author is the Assistant Curator of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune, where the manuscripts collected by Georg Bühler are deposited. Along with source materials available in India, she consulted those in Germany and Austria. This work deals with the life and pioneering work of Georg Bühler in the various fields of Indology. The book argues that Bühler's interactions with the 19th c. India influenced his approach as a researcher and in turn his methodology which then followed his self-developed path of Ethno-Indology.

The richly illustrated essays in Turcologica Upsaliensia tell the stories of scholars, travellers, diplomats and collectors who made discoveries in the Turkic-speaking world while affiliated with Sweden's oldest university, at Uppsala. The study of Oriental languages, including Turkic, has a long tradition at Uppsala. The first part of the volume tells of famous Uppsala professors who were experts not only in Ottoman and Chaghatay, but also in smaller Turkic languages, and of their high esteem for Turkic culture. It also tells how collectors benefited from the Swedish court's cordial relations with the Ottomans. The second part describes selected manuscripts, art objects and maps, calling readers' attention to the cultural heritage preserved at the University Library, which is also accessible online.
