The volume is dedicated to the theoretical and constructed work of Sedad Hakki Eldem. As part of a line of research on the Mediterranean and its ability to combine the settlement principles, the book focuses on the ability of the ancient world to work out a project, applied to the story of Sedad Hakki Eldem, a key person of 20th Century Turkish architecture and the one who most of all tried with his work to give Turkish modern architecture a vernacular character. The book studies the work of the Turkish architect through the key themes of the construction of the city, such as the analysis of monuments and houses, and also deals with the theme of travelling, Eldem's legacy to the city of Istanbul and his relationship with the Turkish-Ottoman house read as a primary reference for modern Turkish architecture. Il volume è dedicato all'opera teorica e costruita di Sedad Hakki Eldem. Nell'ambito di un filone di ricerca sul Mediterraneo e sulla sua capacità di unire i principi di insediamento, il libro si focalizza sulla capacità dell'antico di produrre progetto, applicata alla vicenda di Sedad Hakki Eldem, figura centrale dell'architettura turca del Novecento e colui che più di tutti ha cercato con il suo lavoro di dare all'architettura moderna turca un carattere vernacolare. Il libro studia l'opera dell'architetto turco attraverso i temi chiave della costruzione della città, come l'analisi dei monumenti e delle case, e affronta inoltre il tema del viaggio, del lascito di Eldem alla città di Istanbul e del suo rapporto con la casa turco-ottomana letta come riferimento primario per la moderna architettura turca.

The publication collects the results of the four Laboratories of Architectural and Urban Design and Interior Architecture of the 5UE Master's Degree Course in Architecture of the DiARC of the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples "Federico II", which took place during the academic year 2020/2021.The exercises conducted by the students are located in the Vallone San Rocco area, falling within an urban area of PUA, and aimed at the care of the domestic and urban space through the experimentation of new forms of collective living, and particular attention to integration. cultural, social and generational.The theme of the living space was declined through the elaboration of different project scales: from the private internal space to the semi-public external space, ending with the collective open space, including agricultural and productive ones.The volume is completed by numerous essays by lecturers from the Department of Architecture, architects and experts demonstrating the transversal and central nature of the topic dealt with in the context of contemporary architectural research. La pubblicazione raccoglie gli esiti dei quattro Laboratori di Progettazione Architettonica e Urbana e Architettura degli Interni del Corso di Laurea Magistrale 5UE in Architettura del DiARC del Dipartimento di Architettura della Università di Napoli “Federico II”, che si sono svolti durante l’anno accademico 2020/2021.Le esercitazioni condotte dagli studenti sono localizzate sull’area del Vallone San Rocco, ricadente in un ambito urbanistico di PUA, e rivolte alla cura dello spazio domestico e urbano attraverso la sperimentazione di nuove forme dell’abitare collettivo, e una particolare attenzione all’integrazione culturale, sociale e generazionale.Il tema dello spazio dell’abitare è stato declinato attraverso l’elaborazione di diverse scale di progetto: dallo spazio interno privato a quello esterno semipubblico, per finire con lo spazio aperto collettivo, includendo anche quello agricolo e produttivo. Completano il volume numerosi saggi di docenti del Dipartimento di Architettura, architetti ed esperti a dimostrazione del carattere trasversale e centrale del tema trattato nell’ambito della ricerca architettonica contemporanea.
