Erik van Lieshout first became known in the early 2000s for his visceral videos in which he often plays a central role, shown in environments of his own making: installations whose rough, bricolaged forms belie their sophistication. Whilst his immediate subject matter is often directly influenced by the political and social context of the Netherlands, van Lieshout's work provocatively raises issues that are relevant across Europe and beyond: immigration and integration, class and gentrification. Despite these weighty topics, his work can be outrageously funny, using satire to reveal the failings of our society. With equally brutal honesty, he explores his own failings, both as a human being and as an artist. In recent works, he particularly questions art's direct social impact and its potential to do good.

For Rein Dufait, the definition of sculpture is the adding or subtracting of material. His rigorous approach to his chosen medium has led him to develop a singular — perhaps also solitary — practice that is nourished by an insistent curiosity about material (whether natural or manmade) and a fascination with form (whether organic or artistic). In his work, Dufait confronts the fundamental questions of sculpture: how to divide space; how to combine textures; how to create volume and height. His sculptures are never narrative, seldom figurative, but often refer to organic structures. Always human in scale, they reveal an efficiency in construction that is fundamental to their meaning.

Thao Nguyen Phan work builds a multi-layered, visual, thrilling and poetical body of work which goes beyond a purely historical or political point of view and explores current questions on food security and our ecological responsibility towards agricultural environments. Through different levels of narrative and speaking simultaneously of real and imaginary worlds, she proposes alternate versions of reality. The publication features a large array of images (watercolors and stills from her films) and texts that provide a broad overview of Thao Nguyen Phan's latest work. The book ends with a poetic appendix written by Lila Matsumoto.

Kuri gathers his resources from a variety of sites before combining them in a manner that draws upon tradition of assemblage with a nod to Surrealist montage. The catalogue shows, amongst others, new pieces produced for the exhibition, revealing both the diversity of Kuri's formal approach and the consistency of his underlying themes: notions of commercial and cultural value, consumerism, as well as material and its poetic (mis)use.
