Critical multicultural practice, rather than being a specialism, is integral to Australian social work. Drawing on critical race theory, critical multiculturalism, intersectionality and critical reflection as practice theory, this major new edited collection challenges many of the dominant assumptions of cross-cultural social work and provides instead a new model of transformative engagement.Key concepts are considered, including identity, culture, diversity and superdiversity, how power and privilege shape everyday interactions and what is meant by citizenship in the contemporary context. Doelstelling: De afgelopen decennia werd heel wat onderzoek verricht naar de verschillen in gesproken taal tussen mannen en vrouwen. Die verschillen komen echter ook tot uiting in geschreven taal. Onderzoek op het British National Corpus toont aan dat het geslacht van een auteur met 80% zekerheid kan worden bepaald. In deze masterproef wordt nagegaan of mannen en vrouwen ook anders schrijven in het Nederlands. Middelen of methode: Voor dit onderzoek werd een corpus samengesteld met willekeurig geselecteerde artikels uit het nieuwsmagazine Knack. Het corpus werd vervolgens opgedeeld in twee groepen: mannelijke teksten en vrouwelijke teksten. Voor elke groep gingen we na hoeveel keer een bepaalde woordsoort door mannen en vrouwen gebruikt wordt. Uit die kwantitatieve gegevens konden we ten slotte lexicale gelijkenissen en verschillen afleiden. Resultaten: Uit de resultaten blijkt dat sommige woordsoorten opvallend meer of minder voorkomen in mannelijke en vrouwelijke teksten. Dit kan erop wijzen dat beide geslachten een andere schrijfstijl hanteren. Zo toont de keuze van voornaamwoorden aan dat vrouwen eerder een betrokken stijl hanteren. Bovendien blijkt dat vrouwen meer over vrouwen schrijven, terwijl mannen meer over mannen schrijven. Een frequenter gebruik van adjectieven, lidwoorden en hoeveelheidwoorden wijst er dan weer op dat mannen de zaken vaker identificeren en toelichten.
