Abstract

"Lippincott Certification Review: Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is the ideal companion while preparing for the Acute Care CPNP(r) exam administered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Review Board, or for anyone who seeks to perform at a higher level of practice for children who are acutely, chronically, and critically ill. The AC PNP (Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) program is designed to prepare experienced pediatric nurses to meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of infants, children, adolescents and young adults with complex acute, critical and chronic health conditions. The focus of AC PNP care includes complex monitoring and ongoing management of intensive therapies in a variety of settings, including but not limited to, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, emergency departments and home care settings. Specialty areas of practice are varied and continue to emerge. AC PNPs collaborate with an interprofessional team to provide optimal patient care. The Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Acute Care (CPNP-AC) certification exam was developed by the Pediatric Nursing Certification board nearly 10 years ago. Since that time, there has not been a review book specific to this exam, and students have been seeking preparation materials for the exam. For the (approximately) 26 programs in the United States offered to complete pediatric certification, this book is the only available certification review material for the exam. Organized in a simple, bulleted format, this invaluable resource includes multiple choice self-assessment questions with rationales at the end of every chapter, plus two self-assessment exams with rationales - totaling more than 750 questions. Content focuses on the diagnosis and management of pediatric acute care problems typically treated in the emergency department or an inpatient setting._ Certification must be renewed every five years._"--

Abstract

This book presents the current state of the nursing science in topics relevant to the care of pediatric oncology patients and their families across the treatment trajectory and is framed within a precision health framework. The spectrum of topics covered is wide, including, for example, symptom management, self-care management, exercise and physical activity, family-centered care, palliative care, the role of the nurse in treatment decision making, patient and nurse resiliency, survivorship, and genetic counseling. Throughout, there is a focus on the implications of research for nursing practice, highlighting which elements of the available evidence are ready for translation into practice and which are not. In addition, careful attention is paid to the role that nursing can play in further advancing science through clinical research. The authors are leading experts from across the globe. The book will be of special interest for pediatric oncology nurses, including direct care nurses, research nurses, and nursing leaders, and will also be a stimulating source for researchers and non-oncology nurses. .

Abstract

This book provides readers with international exemplars of nurse-led/nurse-directed pediatric models of care. It offers innovative and forward-thinking models of nursing care, incentives and opportunities for nurses to replicate similar nurse-led models of care in their own clinical and community-based settings. Readers will benefit from selected and proven nurse-led/nurse-directed pediatric models of care that have been developed, implemented and evaluated by advanced practice pediatric nurses, including successful examplars from less developed countries and underserved populations. This book is a welcome addition to faculty in child health graduate programs and/or clinicians in hospitals to have this kind of “model” for practice. This book encompasses an extensive compilation of contributions of international authors, also from countries that have been rarely featured in books, and it facilitates worldwide linkages with colleagues internationally. .
