Abstract

A7 Software is currently working on Andaman7 (see www.andaman7.com ), a mobile application allowing to create, manage and share electronic health records1 to improve collaboration between doctors and patients. It is composed of client applications running on mobile devices and a back end server written in Java, responsible for synchronizing data between them. Andaman7 for iPad was launched recently on the AppStore. We are willing to design, implement and deploy a PKI on our server, allowing client applications to encrypt end-to-end their medical data exchanges as well as messaging system data. The private and public keys will be generated on client-side and the server will be responsible for distributing and certifying the public keys. In order to minimize the traffic between clients and server, an algorithm similar to PGP will be used to achieve the asymmetric encryption/decryption.Furthermore, we would like to develop a messaging system integrated with Andaman7 allowing users to securely send messages to each other. Users will be able to invite or block others. Notifications will inform users who receive a message or an invitation. The new messaging system will have to respect the current Andaman7 architecture and concepts.

Abstract

Abstract

Nowadays cloud development attracts companies thanks to new services offered. Gambit Financial Solutions is motivated by moving to the cloud to offer in the near future its financial solutions directly via a secure cloud infrastructure. Its second motivation is to discharge the company of any hardware maintenance on the premises. This master thesis focuses on the securization and the migration of a Gambit service from an on the premises cloud to a hybrid cloud infrastructure. The approach followed for the migration starts by the study of cloud computing and the current on the premises infrastructure. The study continues with an upstream analysis on Cloud Provider Services and their vulnerabilities. Then the implementation of the two migration solutions on a cloud provider is described. Finally, security was tested using penetration testing techniques. Results obtained showed that Azure Cloud suits well for Gambit’s needs. Migration phase was profitable to get acquainted with cloud services. It also highlights the limitations on resource control. Penetration testing were performed without highlighting several application security risks. Solutions in real conditions shown better performance for one solution between the two. Indeed, WebApplication Service proposed by Azure cloud is more efficient than deploying a website like the equivalent on a cloud of the premises virtual machine. Finally, the solution kept by Gambit shows that we solve the problem of migrating securely a service from on the premises to Azure Cloud platform.

Abstract

Software-defined networking (SDN) is a solution designed to make networks more flexible and easier to manage. Cisco has designed the Application-Centric Infrastructure (ACI) for data center networks, and Software-Defined Access (SDA) for campus networks. In addition, Cisco is currently developing integrations between its Software-Defined Networks. This project aims at building a use case for the integration between ACI and SDA to show how end-to-end segmentation can be performed between the two domains, and to build a solution to automate the deployment of configuration to ACI. The latter was extended and also demonstrates how Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps can be used to manage IT infrastructures that include the container orchestrator Kubernetes, and VMware vSphere.

Abstract

Although considered as opaque and mysterious, nowadays the illiquid assets represent an investment opportunity increasingly talked about by the various different institutional investors. Indeed, it turns out that all of the assets, either financial or real, are somewhat illiquid, but what varies is their degree of illiquidity, portrayed as their liquid event occurrences. This degree of illiquidity results in a premium for the investors, making up for the higher risks taken while investing in such particular assets. Besides this concept of illiquidity and the appealing related premium, these assets are also extremely attractive because they provide, among other, higher risk-adjusted returns than the traditional assets, a reduction of the systematic-risk of a portfolio through diversification and a key noncyclical characteristic.Naturally, investing in these assets represents a massive risk and a challenge considering the fact that there is massive lack of information and the market is decentralized, without any public quotations. Therefore, the investors, mostly institutional, are active and constantly developing their knowledge of the field to take advantage of the few available information. In this context, Pure Capital S.A., an independent asset manager established in Luxembourg, desires to develop its activities and to take advantage of the illiquid assets through the development of its Management Company service. Therefore, through this project, Pure Capital S.A. will be provided with a genuine toolbox. The latter is composed of a literature and theoretical background concerning the illiquid assets, making up for the frame of the actual tools. These are, more particularly, on one hand, the Decision Tree, derived into identity sheets for each of the studied illiquid assets, gathering the major useful features for the determination of the specific illiquid asset sub-category. On the other hand, the Valuation Matrix gives, within seconds, the corresponding and recommended valuation approaches to conduct, for each of the illiquid asset sub-categories which are at stake for Pure Capital S.A. in this project. The different implemented valuation methodologies are aimed to be generical and user-friendly, to encompass as many cases as possible and enabling Pure Capital S.A. to perform effortless counter valuations. They are developed qualitatively and some, quantitatively.
