Beweging is inherent aan het werk van Patrick Dougherty en Adrian Maryniak. Er is een duidelijke overeenkomst in de manier waarop het materiaal wordt gebruikt (een soort van assemblage weeftechniek). Bovendien zijn beide kunstenaars op een gelijkaardige manier geinteresseerd in transparantie en monumentaliteit. In hun werk is een zekere speelsheid en abstractie aanwezig. De relatie met het materiaal voegt een energie aan de expressie toe. Men voelt bij beide kunstenaars het verlangen om uit individuele elementen massa te laten ontstaan, of het nu gaat om vergroting van objecten of om een geometrische vorm. Patrick Dougherty, sinds meer dan twintig jaar als kunstenaar bezig, gebruikt altijd plantaardig materiaal. Een krachtige Wind Beweging schept de hoofdstructuur van het werk. In zijn in situ installaties toont hij zijn bijzondere interesse voor de relatie met de architectuur of verzint eigen plantaardige bouwsels. Adrian Maryniak daarentegen gebruikt metaal. Al zijn constructies, grote spontane of geometrische kluwens, zijn bedacht vanuit staal- of aluminiumdraad. In deze zuiver geometrische figuren (kubus, parallellepipedum, cilinder, etc.) voelt men een directe relatie met het materiaal, via de pressie, het oprollen of de assemblage, waardoor een gevoel van lichtheid in de massa ontstaat.
