In het verhaal leer je Burak kennen. Hij houdt niet van binnen zitten en al helemaal niet van huiswerk maken. Hij is honderd keer liever buiten. En het allerliefst gaat hij met Kadir mee, op zijn boot. Dan brengen ze samen toeristen naar de modderbaden of de ruïnes. En onderweg vertelt Kadir verhalen aan Burak. Verhalen over verdwaalde zeeschildpadden en verdwenen schatten. Verhalen die Kadir natuurlijk stuk voor stuk uit zijn duim zuigt, dat weet Burak zeker. Of, ja... bijna zeker.

European views on Turkey's membership in the EU have been split between those in support of its full integration and those advocating a privileged partnership. To the extent that many of the latter proposals imply that Turkey will be partially integrated within Europe in certain areas, the question of Turkey's accession is probably not about ˜if', but about ˜how much' integration there will be within the Union's structures. The purpose of this book is not to offer a definitive response to this question. The book aims instead to examine the complexity of the issues pertaining to Turkey's prospective EU membership by presenting several, often divergent, accounts of the political, security and socio-economic dimensions of the entire process. Water is a strategic natural resource of vital importance to all nations. As such it has been the cause of several international disputes. For Turkey especially, water is crucial to social and economic development. Turkey's current national water regime that emphasises water resources development and management for productive uses, however, faces growing environmental concerns and international criticism regarding transboundary water cooperation. Furthermore, EU accession requires Turkey to adopt an extensive and ambitious body of EU water law.  To understand Turkey's position to international water law, the national policies and socio-economic circumstances that impact water resources management need to be considered. This book fills the existing knowledge gap through a broad perspective and analysis of the current state of Turkey's water policy and its management of both national and transboundary waters. The present book, which contains seventeen newly commissioned articles, aims to give a rich overview of the current state of research by Turkish philosophers and historians of science. Topics covered address issues in methodology, causation, and reduction, and include philosophy of logic and physics, philosophy of psychology and language, and Ottoman science studies. The book also contains un unpublished interview with Maria Reichenbach, Hans Reichenbach's wife, which sheds new light on Reichenbach's academic and personal life in Istanbul and at UCLA.
