De redacteurs stellen in hun gezamenlijke inleiding een triangulaire leessleutel voor: het begrijpen van corruptie als fenomeen, de vraag naar integriteit als remedie, en het verband tussen corruptie en geweld, integriteit en vrede.Ze vertrekken vanuit het hot issue corruptie als fenomeen, dagelijks in de media gepresenteerd in alle mogelijke vormen: smeergeld, chantage, favoritisme, verduistering, intimidatie, fraude, afpersing,... En dat in alle mogelijke domeinen van onze samenleving: de politiek, de sport, bedrijven, banken, het milieu en de publieke dienstverlening. België scoort hoog op de internationale corruptie-indexen. Vervolgens komen een aantal relevante vragen aan bod: op welke manier en met welke maatregelen kan je corruptie tegengaan? Kunnen strengere wetten en zwaardere sancties het tij doen keren? Waarom en hoe worden mensen verleid tot corruptie? Wat is het belang van persoonlijke integriteit, geloof, en vrede?
