In dit boek ontvouwen de auteurs een postmodern perspectief op leidinggeven. Het postmodernisme beziet de werkelijkheid als principieel chaotisch, waardoor planmatige en rationele oplossingen alleen niet langer toereikend zijn. De overmacht van logisch-rationele controlerende systemen is een probleem voor het onderwijs. Postmodernisten vragen aandacht voor het gegeven dat het individu tegenwoordig meer en meer op zichzelf is aangewezen. Zelfbevestiging en ontwikkeling van gevoelens van eigenwaarde houden verband met persoonlijke groei en welbevinden, in relatie tot de ander. Dit maakt 'herschepping' van het proces van leidinggeven hoogst noodzakelijk. Hiertoe worden in Leidinggevende, wie ben je? nieuwe basisprincipes ontwikkeld, resulterend in elf dimensies van excellent leiderschap. Aan de hand van onderzoeksdata, ontleend aan de Nederlandse en Vlaamse onderwijspraktijk, worden deze dimensies nader ingevuld.Hoe kun je je innerlijke kompas gebruiken? Hoe kun je de dingen doen die bij je passen? Hoe richt je je professionele leven in op een manier waar je blij van wordt? De huidige dominante politieke beheersstructuur in het onderwijs biedt nauwelijks ruimte voor het stellen van dergelijke dieperliggende, existentiële en morele vragen van deze tijd. Toch is het van groot belang er in onze scholen aandacht aan te besteden. Iedere leidinggevende, van teamleider tot en met bestuurder, zal vooral een bemiddelaar moeten zijn van de ontwikkeling van anderen, niet door wegen vrij te maken, maar door anderen in staat te stellen hun wegen vrij te maken. De leidinggevende speelt met de kern van zijn persoon-zijn een belangrijke rol: hij is zijn eigen instrument.http://www.maklu.be
