Dit is de Nederlandse bewerking van een oorspronkelijk Engelstalige uitgave die is verschenen naar aanleiding van de solotentoonstelling van Mark Manders in Art Gallery of York University te Toronto in 2002. Dit boek is onder te verdelen in 3 delen. Het eerste deel bevat drie interviews met Mark Manders door de Nederlandse dichter Marije Langelaar en gaat in op een aantal recente werken en tentoonstellingen. Na een algemeen eerste interview legt het tweede de nadruk op de tentoonstelling in Toronto. Het derde interview gaat uitgebreid in op het werk Reduced Rooms with Changing Arrest dat te zien was op Documenta 11 te Kassel. Het tweede deel van het boek bevat illustraties en korte beschrijvingen van een ruime selectie werken die gemaakt zijn tussen eind jaren tachtig en heden. Het derde en laatste deel toont een overzicht van recente publicaties die gemaakt zijn in nauwe samenwerking met grafisch ontwerper Roger Willems van ROMA Publications. Ever since her career began in the 1970s, this Bay Area artist has drawn upon fragmentary information from popular culture and her own life to produce works that play with the instability of identity and the all-around trickiness of images. In artist’s books, installations, sculptures, videos, photographs, paintings, and screen prints, Bacher uses images and objects in a physical, visceral manner. Bacher’s mixture of bodies and ideas, pop and personal, while always remaining somehow elusive, feels entirely relevant to problems in art and life now. 

In this publication, she has compiled her work from 1975 to 2013 into a hefty volume of seemingly digital files from an inventory. It is accompanied by a new essay by Caoimhín Mac Giolla Léith. 

The book is published with Kunsthalle Zürich, Portikus, Frankfurt am Main, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London.
