Abstract

pH Deregulation as the Eleventh Hallmark of Cancer presents key concepts about pH deregulation in a concise and straight-forward manner. The book discusses topics such as pH regulation and metabolism, sodium hydrogen exchanger, monocarboxylate transporter, V-ATPase proton pump, carbonic anhydrases, and voltage gated sodium channels. In addition, it covers clinical and therapeutic implications and future perspectives. This is a valuable resource for researchers, oncologists, students and members of the biomedical and medical fields who want to learn more about the role of pH deregulation in cancer treatment.pH deregulation can improve the outcome of classical treatments without adding toxicity to them, and the book shows that treating the pH peculiarities of cancer is simple and can be performed with existing drugs. Based on the classification of tumor malignancy in ten hallmarks, the authors put pH deregulation at the spotlight and separated from metabolic reprogramming due to its impact on all other hallmarks, proposing it as an additional characteristic to evaluate and fight cancer.Proposes that pH deregulation should be considered as an independent hallmark of cancer from metabolic reprogramming due to its impact on all other hallmarks (based on seminal work of Hanahan and Weinberg)Explains basic issues of cancer pH deregulation and its consequences in a simple and concise mannerDiscusses the subject from the start with very elementary concepts on pH and pH regulation to help readers understand key concepts without proper backgroundPresents key concepts through original illustrations and table for easy comprehension

Abstract

Analyze company data quickly and easily using Microsoft’s powerful data tools. Learn to build scalable and robust data models, clean and combine different data sources effectively, and create compelling and professional visuals. Beginning Power BI is a hands-on, activity-based guide that takes you through the process of analyzing your data using the tools that that encompass the core of Microsoft’s self-service BI offering. Starting with Power Query, you will learn how to get data from a variety of sources, and see just how easy it is to clean and shape the data prior to importing it into a data model. Using Power BI tabular and the Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), you will learn to create robust scalable data models which will serve as the foundation of your data analysis. From there you will enter the world of compelling interactive visualizations to analyze and gain insight into your data. You will wrap up your Power BI journey by learning how to package and share your reports and dashboards with your colleagues. Author Dan Clark takes you through each topic using step-by-step activities and plenty of screen shots to help familiarize you with the tools. This third edition covers the new and evolving features in the Power BI platform and new chapters on data flows and composite models. This book is your hands-on guide to quick, reliable, and valuable data insight. What You Will Learn: Simplify data discovery, association, and cleansing Build solid analytical data models Create robust interactive data presentations Combine analytical and geographic data in map-based visualizations Publish and share dashboards and reports Dan Clark is a senior business intelligence (BI) and programming consultant specializing in Microsoft technologies. He is focused on learning new BI and data technologies and training others on how to best implement the technology. Dan has published several books and numerous articles on .NET programming and BI development. He is a regular speaker at various developer and database conferences and user group meetings and enjoys interacting with the Microsoft communities. In a previous life, Dan was a physics teacher. He is still inspired by the wonder and awe of studying the universe and figuring out why things behave the way they do. .

Abstract

This book articulates and interconnects a range of research methods for the investigation of business management processes. It introduces new directions that both recognise the business community as stakeholders in the research process and seek to include them in that process. The book presents a range of contemporary research methods with particular focus on those that allow insights into business managers’ thoughts and behaviours. It includes fresh views on traditional research designs, for example new approaches to using literature reviews, experiments, interviews and observation studies. It also considers cutting-edge research methods, such as the use of vignettes, workshops, improvisation and theatre, as well as computer-based simulation. In addition to discussing new approaches to data capture and data generation, it presents new methods of data analysis by considering various forms of models and modelling, new forms of computer-aided text analysis and innovative approaches to data display. Finally, the book provides a link between the philosophical underpinnings of research and the different research methods presented. This is often neglected but undertaking the knowledge-generating journey that is research includes having a view on reality and marrying this to beliefs about how the reality to be investigated can be best expedited.
