New materials and manufacturing techniques are evolving with the potential to address the challenges associated with the manufacture of medicinal products that will teach new tricks to old drugs. De negende druk van dit standaardwerk op het gebied van de geneesmiddelenleer geeft als vanouds een overzicht van nagenoeg alle geregistreerde geneesmiddelen in Nederland. Het boek is samengesteld door ziekenhuisapothekers met jarenlange ervaring als hoofd van een ziekenhuisapotheek en als opleider. De inhoud van deze grondig herziene negende druk is in overeenstemming gebracht met de laatste actuele farmacologische ontwikkelingen. De nieuw geregistreerde en innovatieve geneesmiddelen worden uitgebreid besproken. Een belangrijke toevoeging is bijvoorbeeld het uit bloed bereide product: Immunoglobuline, plasmavervangingsmiddel, hematopoëtische groeifactor. Tot nu toe werd deze groep nog niet zo volledig in leerboeken behandeld. De geneesmiddelen zijn per categorie geordend, waarbij zowel de merknaam als de officiële naam is vermeld.
