Carlo Scarpa was one of the great masters of postwar Italian architecture. This book proposes a photographic itinerary that unfurls through Venice, Treviso, Verona and Bologna, before reaching the Dolomites,His most significant projects have been photographed specifically for the book, including constructions and installations in public spaces, such as museums, shops and offices. Each example illustrates Scarpa’s ability to approach the architectural volume as a whole while at the same time tending to its interior layout down to the smallest details, exploring the potential of the material, giving rhythm to the volumes through light, and expressing the poetics of the shape, even in its simplest lines. The projects featured in the book alternate between overviews and close-ups, with a very high photographic quality. They are all briefly introduced by a text that describes their genesis, explains the context in which they were made and focuses on the details that best represent Scarpa’s style, with a summary and clear key to understanding the architect’s work. The volume ends with a postscript by his son, Tobia Scarpa, who is currently designing the forthcoming Scarpa Museum in Treviso.

The official Biennale catalogue—a global overview of architecture of the last one hundred years. The emphasis of the 2014 Biennale is on architectural history. Each country is asked to narrate its history over the last one hundred years in relation to the idea of modernity. Has national identity been sacrificed on the altar of modernity? This is the issue that the Biennale is called on to address.

Regarded as one of the most influential architects and designers of the twentieth century, Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was a prolific creator, as much interested in industrial production as in handicrafts, who has revolutionised post-war architecture while opening up the prospects for a new way of life. This book covers his entire career from 1921 to 1978, highlighting the many aspects of his work, from architecture to industrial design, from furniture to lighting, from the creation of magazines to a foray into the fields of glass, ceramics and goldsmithery.0More than 500 pieces trace this multi-disciplinary journey through architecture, furniture, installations for private homes or public buildings (universities, cathedrals), displaying the creative world of this legendary figure of the Italian scene, whose generosity and enthusiasm have stimulated his contemporaries and still inspire new generations of designers and architects.00Exhibition: Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France (19.10.2018-10.02.2019).
