The contents of this book pay particular attention to the different length-scales (macro, micro and nano) as related to obtaining a deeper understanding of the structure-property relationships of polymeric nanocomposite materials. They cover major findings and observations related to the morphological, interfacial, processing response, physical and thermophysical properties of multiphase polymers and polymer composite systems: from macro to nano length-scales. The presentation is organised around three areas: Multiscale modelling and simulation - Design and advanced characterisation - Processi

Given such properties as low density and high strength, polymer matrix composites have become a widely used material in the aerospace and other industries. Polymer matrix composites and technology provides a helpful overview of these materials, their processing and performance. After an introductory chapter, part one reviews the main reinforcement and matrix materials used as well as the nature of the interface between them. Part two discusses forming and molding technologies for polymer matrix composites. The final part of the book covers key aspects of performance, including tensile,

This book provides another approach for the replacement of glass- and other inorganic fibers as reinforcement for polymer composites. The materials utilized include synthetic, petroleum-based polymesr but prepared here they come in the form of fibers, micro- or nanofibrils. Although this approach does not have the advantages of natural fibers being biodegradable and thus environmentally harmless. At the same time, synthetic polymer-polymer composites seem to be much more acceptable from an environmental point of view than glass fiber reinforced composites because tof their organic in nature. In addition to their environmental advantages, as compared to the polymer composites with mineral reinforcement with high loading rates, they are distinguished by much better specific mechanical properties. This property allows to manufacture light-weight products and constructions, a fact of particular importance in transportation vehicles and aircrafts. An international team of researchers, working in this area, collected the state-of-the-art results and demonstrate the application of synthetic, but organic materials in the form of carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes, or fibers or micro- and nanofibrils as replacements for mineral reinforcements.

"This book will be beneficial for students, researchers and scientists working in the field of molecular dynamics simulation. In this book, Materials Studio software developed by Accelrys, a software company headquartered in the United States, has been used for performing the simulations and analysis. The source codes written in the book can be used by any one for modeling. The book starts with an introduction to molecular dynamics. Then various molecular dynamics methods will be discussed in detail. As the book progresses, various case studies related to modeling of composites at nano level will be discussed. The properties predicted are mechanical, thermal, optical and electrical. The concept of perl scripting has also been discussed in detail. Lastly the applications of molecular dynamics in various fields of engineering and technology will be discussed. The nanocomposite materials discussed in this book include polymer-matrix composites. The reinforcements used are carbon nanotubes, graphene, nanoparticles and nanofibers"--

Graphene has already gained a unique reputation among novel synthetic materials. Dedicated efforts and enormous resources are being invested in creating viable commercial products. The high electrical and thermal conductivities in graphene are well known, and most of the applications of this material are pivoted to these properties. In addition to electronic and thermal management applications there are several other vital areas where graphene can be used successfully. This book is compiled in two volumes. Volume 1 is specifically meant for beginners who want to know the science and technology
Graphene. --- Graphite. --- Polymeric composites.
