From a dovecot in the Dutch village of Dorst to the Concert Hallin Bruges, from an art gallery in Whitechapel to the City Archives of Bordeaux, the oeuvre on which Robbrecht en Daem Architects has worked since its foundation in 1975 has developed a variety and maturity that stands out on the international stage. This insightful book tells the story of Paul Robbrecht, Johannes Robbrecht, and Hilde Daem from the 1980s: their research and interests, their lost souls, and their successes. Drawing on new and unpublished visual material, a picture and project accordion shows a wide selection of 63 projects that are divided into five key themes from different perspectives.

Since its inception, T.O.P. office has boosted architecture as an uncompromising social tool to persistently question the terrestrial scale and the delicate balance with mankind. Whichever way you turn it, Earth - the orb - is the undeniable alpha and omega for any future stance, action or intervention. An insight Luc Deleu & T.O.P. office have never failed to underscore - or challenge.0Armed with an unsparing but humorous logic, a firm belief in the freedom of the individual, and a persistent commitment to ecology, T.O.P. office continues to hold up a mirror to society. Always unsolicited. Simply because they have to.0For this publication, editors Peter Swinnen and Anne Judong were given unlimited access to the archives of T.O.P. office. The title is also the filter through which to examine the living archive. Which projects - whether conceived in the 1970s or 2000s - retain the intelligent promise of a future plan? And how can they enlighten designers, architects, urban planners, ecologists, cultural workers, administrations and policymakers of today and tomorrow? A future plan in itself.

The new pavilion in the Middelheim sculpture park in Antwerp houses a series of ceramic sculptures by German artist Thomas Schütte. Ghent-based architects Robbrecht & Daem are the designers of the half-open pavilion, which they named 'The House'. Schütte's fragile sculptures are a perfect fit for the nature and spirit of the pavilion's architecture, which is specially designed to cast a protective veil over vulnerable artworks. This book tells the story of the unique collaboration between the sculpture park, the architects and the artist.00.
