Multivariate regressietechnieken vormen het onderwerp van deel 4 in de reeks "Stap In Statistiek en Onderzoek". Hoewel de regressie-analyse zonder twijfel een van de meest gebruikte methoden is binnen de sociale wetenschappen, wordt ze vaak blindelings en daardoor ook foutief toegepast. In dit deel worden de verschillende stappen behandeld die een onderzoeker volgt in het uitvoeren van een regressieanalyse. Hierbij wordt rekening gehouden met alle voorwaarden waaraan zo'n analyse moet voldoen. Niet alleen krijgt de lezer een overzicht van de werkwijze van multiple regressie in SPSS en SAS, ook assumpties zoals lineariteit en homoscedasticiteit worden behandeld. We starten het deel met een korte theoretische inleiding over de regressievergelijking en schattingsmethode om de lezer op weg te helpen bij het begrijpen van de output. Aan de hand van uitgewerkte voorbeelden met de ESS-data, worden daarna diverse regressiemodellen uitgelegd. We gaan dieper in op modellen met meerdere onafhankelijken, categoriale onafhankelijken, interactie-effecten. Na het testen van assumpties, leggen we uit welke alternatieve regressietechnieken een oplossing kunnen bieden voor schendingen
