Abstract

Dance in Belgium tells the fascinating story of fifty years of Belgian dance history. Long before there was De Keersmaeker or they thought Bejart in Brussels and Antwerp after the place of dance between the arts. While dancing weighed in the late nineteenth century was under a bad reputation, captured the art form in the period 1890-1940 an important place in the artistic landscape. Staff Fox shows how foreign dancers, Isadora Duncan of the Les Ballets Russes to Rudolf von Laban, serve as a model for national initiatives. In addition, this book tells about philosophers, artists, educators and politicians who were affected by the power of dance. This gives the reader an original look at the artistic and intellectual life in the early twentieth century.
