De wereld van nu verandert sneller dan ooit. En wij veranderen mee, we moeten wel, vaak onzeker over de koers die we varen. 'In Het fluïde tijdperk' betoogt Atte Jongstra dat het niet langer volstaat om scheep te gaan en onszelf een behouden vaart! toe te wensen. We moeten één worden met het water, vervloeien. Maar wat blijft er dan over van onszelf? In 'Het fluïde tijdperk' vaart Jongstra over de oceaan van de (kunst)geschiedenis met de blik op wat er onder en in hem stroomt. Zijn eruditie, voorkeur voor het buitenissige en humor maken deze nieuwe essays even meeslepend als al zijn andere boeken. Atte Jongstra (1956) is de auteur van een veelzijdig literair oeuvre (circa vijfentwintig afzonderlijke titels). Voor zijn verhalenbundel 'De psychologie van de zwavel' ontving hij in 1989 de Geertjan Lubberhuizenprijs. In 1998 werd hem voor zijn essaybundel 'Familieportret' de J. Greshoffprijs toegekend. Met zijn historische roman 'De avonturen van Henry II Fix' brak hij door bij een groter publiek. Daarna schreef hij de roman 'De heldeninspecteur', de autobiografie 'Klinkende ikken' (Privé-domein) en het boek over Multatuli, 'Kristalman'. Eind 2013 verscheen de autobiografische roman 'Diepte!' over de schrijnende geschiedenis van een klein Fries dorp, gelegen op de grens van hemel en hel.

Whether we recognise it or not, virtually every aspect of our life today has been influenced in part by the aesthetic legacy of Modernism. In this introduction Christopher Butler examines how and why Modernism began, explaining what it is and showing how it has gradually informed all aspects of 20th and 21st century life.

In August 2016 under the title "Svanesang" (Swan Song), Gallery Magnus Karlsson, Stockholm and Galleri Bo Bjerggaard, Copenhagen presented a joint exhibition featuring two of the leading painters in the Nordic countries Mamma Andersson and Tal R. The exhibition's two parts consisted of new paintings and gouaches that were shown simultaneously in the two galleries in Copenhagen and Stockholm, respectively. With Svanesang, Mamma Andersson and Tal R entered their first real artistic collaboration. The exhibition came into being after a yearlong visual dialogue between the two, in which they had exchanged motives and sent photographic material to each other. In the exhibition, it eventually became apparent how the motives recurred in both artist's works and how the inspiration had waved back and forth between the two in an enriching interaction. Inspiration was never put on a pedestal, as the two artists had allowed themselves to manipulate the other's image universe, focus again and thus take ownership of the material themselves.
