This epistolary conversation between Noëlle Renaude and Barbara Métais-Chastanier was initially meant to be a short interview, yet it turned into a more substantial piece of work that they invented together for over a year. Moving beyond the realm of the original topics of the accident, the unexpected, and chance, it became a two-voice essay which, over the course of the dialogue, explores a writing process, linked to the enigma of the stage, in a poetic, critical, and digressive way. In daily sequences, the two correspondents freely engaged in a seesaw of questions, answers, and reflections, which finally produced, as if by accident, what Robert Cantarella calls a “Guide to Disruption” and, on this occasion, a treatise on theater.

John C. Polkinghorne, internationally renowned priest-scientist, addresses fundamental questions about how scientific and theological worldviews relate to each other in this, the second volume (originally published in 1988) of his trilogy, which also included Science and Providence and One World.Dr. Polkinghorne illustrates how a scientifically minded person approaches the task of theological inquiry, postulating that there exists a close analogy between theory and experiment in science and belief and understanding in theology. "In this volume an inquiry into the nature of the creative process is attempted by paying close attention to the lives of various artists, poets, novelists and playwrights, and selected works of each in order to demonstrate an essential relationship between the two, and that it is most difficult to delineate the nuances of the creative act by treating them as separate entitites. Emphasis is placed upon the effect of early trauma, such as object loss and various forms of deprivation, as a powerful unconscious motivating factor and upon the dream and transitional object as facilitators of the creative effort."--Provided by publisher.
