Ausgehend von den narratologischen Kategorien Erzählstimme, Perspektive und Distanz nimmt die Monographie zwei Forschungsdesiderate in Angriff: Sie arbeitet grundlegende Besonderheiten japanischer Erzähltexte des 10. bis 14. Jahrhunderts heraus und schafft zugleich ein methodisches Fundament für die erzähltheoretische Beschäftigung mit vormoderner japanischer Literatur. Die Studie erschließt nicht nur die Narratologie erstmals umfassend für die Japanologie, sondern leistet gleichzeitig einen Beitrag zur Narratologie selbst, indem sie narratologische Modelle einer kritischen Prüfung unterzieht und teilweise modifiziert sowie eine neue Analysekategorie vorschlägt. Japanologischen Arbeiten kann der vorgelegte Theorieentwurf als methodische Grundlage dienen sowie als Ausgangspunkt für Studien zu weiteren narratologischen Kategorien wie Zeit, Raum oder Figur.

Ce n'est pas tous les jours que refait surface un manuscrit médiéval enluminé de l'importance du pontifical bolonais retrouvé il y a peu à l'évêché d'Autun. Discrètement conservé jusqu'alors, ce n'est qu'en 2008 que le précieux volume sort définitivement de l'ombre. Il s'agit d'un livre très particulier, un pontifical, livre par excellence de l'évêque, qui l'utilise pour les cérémonies propres à sa fonction. Son extraordinaire décor peint est l'oeuvre de plusieurs enlumineurs en activité dans le grand centre artistique qu'était Bologne au cours du second quart du XIVe siècle

The Questiones libri Porphirii is a commentary on Porphyry's Isagoge by the fourteenth-century logician Thomas Manlevelt. It is edited here in full. Not much is kwnown of Thomas Manlevelt, but his work is remarkable enough. Following in the footsteps of William of Ockham, Manlevelt stresses the individual nature of all things existing in the outside world. He radically challenges our conceptual framework. He applies Ockham's razor in a ruthless manner to do away with all entities not deemed necessary for preservation. In the end, Manlevelt even maintains that substance does not exist.
