Depuis vingt ans, les auteurs consacrent recherches, conférences et publications aux fonts baptismaux de l'église Saint-Barthélemy à Liège, unanimement salués comme l'un des grands chefs-d'oeuvre de l'art médiéval et comme les plus beaux fonts du monde. Le livre réédite, avec de parcimonieuses retouches, dix des textes qu'ils ont donné à leur sujet depuis 1984 et en publie un pour la première fois, plus développé et nourri qu'aucun des précédents. Les fonts n'ont nullement vue le jour en pays mosan entre 1107 et 1118 ; ils datent des alentours de l'an mille ; la thèse soutenue est restée à cet égard ce qu'elle était au départ. Elle s'est modifiée, en revanche, sur des points essentiels : ce n'est pas à Novare qu'ils auraient éventuellement été pris par les troupes liégeoises ; ils ont été réalisés et razziés à Rome ; réalisés sur l'ordre d'Otton III, razziés par les soudards de l'un de ses successeurs sur le trône impérial. Elle a mûri de même au sujet des douze vers latins fameux, plus précisément au sujet du deuxième mot, "fecit", base considérée comme inébranlable, bien à tort, des convictions traditionnelles, enracinées en profondeur. Ces vues dérangeantes ont fait naître une "querelle" ; plusieurs des textes s'inscrivent dans la controverse. Trois d'entre eux, enfin, concernent les questions non moins épineuses que la présentation du soubassement met en discussion.

Of more than forty churches that fortified Antwerp as the bulwark of the Counter Reformation in the Netherlands, only St. Jacob’s stands now with its art and archives intact. Parish church of the city’s elite, it is filled with masterpieces, including the altarpiece that Rubens painted for his own burial chapel. Works of architecture, painting, sculpture, and hundreds of sacred objects, documented by the archives, enable a reconstruction of the integral role that art played in the transformation of a whole society over the span of two centuries, from 1585 to the 1790s. It is a history of real people and organizations, who used art for religion, politics, and social purpose, joined together in a church that embodied a diverse community.

La basilique de Koekelberg est l'œuvre de l'architecte Albert Van Huffel (1877-1935). En 1925, son projet pour la basilique remporte le prix d'architecture de l'Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes de Paris. C'est devenu un monument unique dans l'architecture art déco. Voici la première monographie sur les qualités architecturales de la basilique de Bruxelles, la cinquième plus grande église du monde! L'année 2005 marque le 100e anniversaire du roi Léopold II, qui pose la première pierre de la colline de Koekelberg. La basilique ne fut finalement achevée qu'en 1970. Après des années de relative indifférence, ce chef-d'œuvre d'architecture art déco et le savoir-faire de Van Huffel, un collègue d'Henry Van de Velde, suscitent aujourd'hui un nouvel intérêt.
