The journal publishes seminars solicited by the Department of Mathematics, University of Bologna. It features recent developments in mathematical analysis. The topics include partial differential equations, nonlinear analysis and geometric analysis. BPMAS is devoted to contributions to mathematical analysis; both theoretical and applied papers, of original or expository type, are included.

This book presents the material covered in graduate lectures delivered at The Australian National University in 2010. Real Harmonic Analysis originates from the seminal works of Zygmund and Calderón, pursued by Stein, Weiss, Fefferman, Coifman, Meyer and many others. Moving from the classical periodic setting to the real line, then to higher dimensional Euclidean spaces and finally to, nowadays, sets with minimal structures, the theory has reached a high level of applicability. This is why it is called real harmonic analysis: the usual exponential functions have disappeared from the picture. Set and function decomposition prevail.

In July 1998 the first NEMACOM (NEw Methods in Applied and COmputational Mathematics) workshop was held at the campus of the University of Southern Queensland at Hervey Bay on the Wide-Bay-Burnett coast of Queensland. At the workshop a number of different topics in applied and computational mathematics were presented ranging from computational statistics and stochastic processes, through optimization, optimal control, graph theoretic methods in computational mathematics, the use of dynamical systems techniques for meteorology, modelling the solar atmosphere and geo-hydrological processes, simulating rigid-body dynamics, and the future of the Fast Fourier Transform.

This volume contains the proceedings of the joint Australian-Taiwanese "Workshop on Analysis and Applications" held at The University of Queensland from March 31 to April 04, 1997. The Worskshop brought together researchers from Australia and Taiwan working in harmonic analysis, nonlinear partial differential equations, dynamical systems and control theory, geometric and physical applications, and computational mathematics and its applications.
