L'inclusion de nombre d'enfants et d'adultes dans la communauté est compromise parfois par des comportements jugés dangereux, menaçants ou dérangeants pour leur entourage. Ce manuel comporte des outils souples et simples d'usage pour l'évaluation des comportements problématiques et la mise en oeuvre d'interventions individualisées. Comprendre les comportements problématiques, leurs circonstances d'apparition, les facteurs qui les entretiennent, et la fonction qu'ils ont pour la personne qui les présente est une première étape. Familles et professionnels pourront préparer des interventions individualisées qui rendent ces comportements superflus, inéfficaces ou non rentables. Il s'agit par des modifications des nos attitudes, de l'environnement, l'acquisition ou l'application de compétences, de favoriser d'autres comportements ayant la même fonction pour la personne qui les présente, ou d'élergir son répertoire. L'évaluation fonctionnelle, une approche qui a près de 20 ans d'existence, fait partie du soutien aux comportements positifs. Aux USA, elle est inscrite dans les lois de nombreux états. Ces méthodes sont validées par la recherche et l'expérience de nombreuses équipes. Cet ouvrage d'introduction écrit dans une langue simple, sans excès de jargon, cherche à rendre cette expérience accessible au public francophone. Post-Translational Modifications (PTMs) may occur at any stage following the translation process in the lifecycle of specific proteins. PTMs regulate several cellular processes including protein stability, subcellular localization, and protein-protein interactions. In recent years, more and more target proteins of PTMs have been proved to be related to epigenetic regulation and cell fate. Some enzymes that catalyze PTMs have also been found to be involved in human diseases. This book intends to provide the reader with an overview of the current state of the art in this research field, which focuses on the recent advances, new findings and perspectives in cellular functions, and their clinical significance in human diseases. This volume focusses on oxidative modifications of lipid molecules and the successive generation of singlet oxygen. The book also covers the secondary adductions of these reactive species with proteins and aminophospholipids. During lipid peroxidation, the initial event is the formation of lipid hydroperoxide, which is followed by an oxidation event that starts a chain-reaction. The formed lipid hydroperoxide gradually decomposes into harmful aldehydes, which are the advanced end-products of lipid peroxidation. The book consists of three sections:   Part I, entitled Lipid peroxidation and small molecule adducts focusses on the biochemical events that are involved in lipid peroxidation and to the formation of small molecules like singlet molecular oxygen. This part of the book also introduces the hexanoyl-lysine adduct. Part II, entitled Pathophysiological consequences covers a range of damaging physiological consequences of lipid peroxidation, ranging from atherosclerosis to neurodegenerative disorders. Finally, Part III, entitled Applications for diagnosis and development of functional food looks into potential diagnostic uses of lipid peroxidation, the possible beneficial effects that can be achieved and new assays in food safely that have been developed.
