No one will deny that labour standards comprise a necessary framework for balanced economic and social development. Auf der Grundlage konkreter Forschungsprojekte im Kontext von Industrie 4.0 liefert dieses Fachbuch Szenarien der Gestaltung zukünftiger Industriearbeit. Diese Szenarien lassen sich mit einem einheitlichen Beschreibungsmodell darstellen; dieses Modell kann für weitere Gestaltungsprojekte in der industriellen Praxis herangezogen werden. Anhand dieser praxisnahen technisch-organisationalen Lösungen wird deutlich, wie die Zukunft der Arbeit in Industrie 4.0 unter dem Einsatz moderner Automatisierungs-, Robotik- und Assistenztechnologien – bezogen auf ganz spezifische Anwendungsszenarien – aussehen könnte. Die Herausgeber Dr. Steffen Wischmann studierte Technische Biologie und Bionik und promovierte 2007 an der Universität Bonn über die Kommunikation und Kooperation in Roboterschwärmen. Anschließend arbeitete er an der EPFL in Lausanne im Management von internationalen FuE-Projekten rund um die Themen Robotik und künstliche Intelligenz. Seit 2013 ist Dr. Steffen Wischmann als Berater im Bereich Gesellschaft und Innovation in der VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH tätig. Dort analysiert er aktuelle gesellschaftliche, wirtschaftliche, wissenschaftliche und politische Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Industrie 4.0, Arbeitssystemgestaltung, Robotik- und Automatisierungstechnologien. Ernst A. Hartmann promovierte 1995 nach dem Studium der Psychologie mit Schwerpunkt Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie an der RWTH Aachen zu Fragen der Gestaltung industrieller Mensch-Maschine-Systeme. Mitte der 90er war er interner Berater für Organisations- und Prozessentwicklung bei den John Deere Werken Mannheim. Bis 2000 leitete er an der RWTH Aachen eine Forschungsgruppe. 2002 habilitierte er in Psychologie und erhielt die venia legendi für das Fach Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie; seitdem ist er Privatdozent für Arbeitssystem- und -prozessgestaltung an der RWTH Aachen. Von 2004 bis 2016 war Ernst Hartmann Leiter des Bereichs Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft bei der VDI/VDE-IT in Berlin, seit 2016 leitet er dort den Bereich Bildung und Wissenschaft. Seit 2007 ist er zusätzlich einer der Direktoren des Instituts für Innovation und Technik (iit).

The European Social Model has been an integral part of the construction of the European Community and has been effective in stimulating its economic growth.
