Geo-information technology has been playing an ever more important role in environmental monitoring, land resource quantification and mapping, geo-disaster damage and risk assessment, urban planning and smart city development. This book focuses on the fundamental and applied research in these domains, aiming to promote exchanges and communications, share the research outcomes of scientists worldwide and to put these achievements better social use. This Special Issue collects fourteen high-quality research papers and is expected to provide a useful reference and technical support for graduate students, scientists, civil engineers and experts of governments to valorize scientific research.

Data Science (DS) is gaining significant importance in the decision process due to a mix of various areas, including Computer Science, Machine Learning, Math and Statistics, domain/business knowledge, software development, and traditional research. In the business field, DS's application allows using scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data to support the decision process. After collecting the data, it is crucial to discover the knowledge. In this step, Knowledge Discovery (KD) tasks are used to create knowledge from structured and unstructured sources (e.g., text, data, and images). The output needs to be in a readable and interpretable format. It must represent knowledge in a manner that facilitates inferencing. KD is applied in several areas, such as education, health, accounting, energy, and public administration. This book includes fourteen excellent articles which discuss this trending topic and present innovative solutions to show the importance of Data Science and Knowledge Discovery to researchers, managers, industry, society, and other communities. Modern engineering approaches focus on the design and operation of systems and products in a way that allows for the sustainable use of resources. Sustainable engineering aims to provide frameworks that ensure development without compromising the quality of the natural environment and the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In this context, decision making processes must be enriched by approaches and tools that allow decision makers to consider a wide range of sustainable options. Recently, great progress has been taking place in the fields of operation research and management science, where intelligent quantitative analysis, statistics, and prediction analytics are employed in a variety of interdisciplinary research areas, aiming to assist policy makers and managers with the consideration of a variety of sustainable options. This Special Issue consists of a 17-paper collection with published approaches and models that are designed to give answers for environmental impact and sustainability assessment, risk and knowledge management assessment, lifecycle assessment and energy management. Five papers are dedicated to advances in different literature review topics. The remaining papers deal with a variety of engineering approaches to address decision making which involves: mulricriteria decision analysis, ecological footprint and biocapacity estimations, fuzzy prediction models, advanced statistical analysis, simulation, systems dynamics model, task ontology and integration definition function modeling.

Deze publicatie behandelt het administratief statuut van de wegen. Dit statuut wordt nog steeds ten dele beheerst door wetgeving die tot stand kwam in de periode van het unitaire België, dan wel bleef behoren tot de federale bevoegdheid. Wel werd de voorbije decennia een groot deel van de bevoegdheid over het statuut van de wegen gefaseerd overgedragen naar de Gewesten. Recent nog werd binnen het Vlaamse Gewest met een decreet van 3 mei 2019 “houdende de gemeentewegen” (BS 12 augustus 2019), dat per 1 september 2019 in werking trad, voor deze ruime categorie van wegen een volledig nieuw statuut uitgewerkt.Volgende aspecten van wegen in het Vlaamse Gewest komen onder meer aan bod: Openbare weg met aanhorigheden - Rechten en plichten van aangelanden - Particuliere wegen - Bevoegdheden in het Federale België - Bestuurlijke indeling in hoofdwegen en kleine wegen - Autosnelwegen - Gewestwegen - Vaststelling, opmaak en opheffing van rooilijnen - Gemeentewegen - Aanleg, wijziging, verplaatsing en opheffing van gemeentewegen - Buurtwegen - Boswegen en jaarpaden - Samenloop
