"En mai 2009, le gouvernement du Canada, par le truchement de l'Agence de réglementation de la lutte antiparasitaire (ARLA) de Santé Canada, a demandé au Conseil des académies canadiennes de former un comité d'experts, afin de répondre à la question suivante : "Quel est l'état des connaissances scientifiques qui sous-tendent l'utilisation de stratégies de tests intégrés pour l'évaluation réglementaire des risques humains et environnementaux liés aux pesticides?" Le mandat du comité a été précisé dans les sous-questions suivantes: [1] Quel est l'état des connaissances scientifiques en ce qui concerne les outils et les sources de données associés à des stratégies de tests intégrés? [2] Quel est l'état actuel du recours à des stratégies de tests intégrés pour l'évaluation des risques des pesticides, produits pharmaceutiques, produits chimiques industriels et autres substances chimiques par des organismes de réglementation dans le monde? [3] Si des stratégies de tests intégrés étaient mises en œuvre, quelles conséquences cela pourrait-il avoir sur la perception et la confiance du public envers l'évaluation réglementaire et les décisions de gestion des risques liés aux pesticides?"--P. xv.
