In September 2010, Alejandro Souza learned that Momo, his cousin and closest friend in the family, was suddenly imprisoned. Crushed by his imprisonment and desiring to infuse him with strength, resilience, and, above all, love, Souza made an unconditional commitment to write Momo one letter each day for as long as he was in jail.Letters to Momo is the true, remarkable story about the power to overcome told by the collection of all letters written to Momo during his 144 days in prison--intact and in their original state, exactly as he received them.Uniquely sincere and approachable, the letters' contemplative style illuminates core truths about the human experience and invites all to engage in profound reflection. Through broad thematic examinations spanning from personal experiences to Persian poetry, and from Nietzsche to cognitive psychology, the letters' inspirational tone leads you away from the traps of victimhood to reclaim the innate power to author change in your life. With the closing words of each letter, ""I love you with all my heart, and today, let me walk with you," Souza holds our hearts and hands as we embark on our own journey of personal resilience, transcendence, and freedom.Today let these letters walk with you."It would be unfair for me to call these letters a source of encouragement, because they are far more than that. They are a stream of consciousness sent out as a reminder. They are what you have always known, yet perhaps never understood. These letters are a rekindling."- Momo

The concept of inspiration is part and parcel of the theological tradition in several religious confessions, but it has largely receded to the background, if not vanished altogether, in the discussions of biblical scholars. The question "Do we still need inspiration?" might well reflect the perplexity of many exegetes today. Systematic theologians, for their part, often further their own reflections on the subject independently of developments in the field of exegesis, with the risk of remaining purely theoretical. Biblical research in the last decades has been marked by new insights about the nature of the biblical texts, stemming from the study of their inner plurality (insofar as they combine and sometimes intertwine conflicting theologies), of their textual fluidity, and of their reception. Can these new insights be integrated into a theological reflection on the notion of inspiration? These questions are often explicitly raised about the Jewish and Christian Scriptures, but they also prove increasingly relevant for Qur’ānic studies. This volume addresses them through contributions from exegetes of the Bible and of the Qur’an and systematic theologians.

All sorts of things may be described as 'inspired': a mathematical theorem, a work of art, a goal at football, a short-cut home from the shops. What lies behind all these? Where does 'inspiration' come from? Does it derive from a source external to the person inspired, or is it the end result of sheer hard work - or is it purely serendipitous? Within the fields of science and religion, the word 'inspiration' might be thought to carry very different connotations. But is there a degree of over...
