This work aims to develop a software to simulate the in situ population genetic behaviour for an alternatively outbreeder-inbreeder species, Phaseolus lunatus L. var. silvester. The target area for the observations is the Central Valley of Costa Rica, one of the genetic diversity center of that species. The program is written in "C" code for microcomputer running with "Windows 95". In the model each plant is simulated separately with its own characteristics, reproduces and evolves according to the life cycle graph observed. A particular theoretical model was developed to simulate the inbreeder-outbreeder mating system. That model integrates the local population density around each plant, their spatial distribution in the population and the shape of the pollen distribution resulting from the pollinator actions. It is shown that a coefficient equal to the ratio of allogamy and autogamy must be applied to fit the results of that model to the field observations. Simulation results show that it is possible to influence the population genetic structure according to the protected development stages and allows to perceive the possible impacts of land management damaging to some of them. In the case of the studied species, the third year ligneous stage was revealed to be important for heterozygosity preservation. The model can be applied to any plant species with a mixed mating system, provided that the shape of the pollen dispersion is identified.
