L'inexprimable, le rien, le vide semblent occuper l'art contemporain depuis quelques décennies : des monochromes de Klein aux corps virtuels du cyberspace, l'ère est à l'immatériel, voire au spirituel. Etrange tentation pour la technologie, que l'on dit si matérialiste. Plutôt que de suivre comme souvent la voie zen pour décrire ce phénomène, l'auteur tente ici, non sans succès, de faire revivre une très ancienne physique, celle des stoïciens, et leur théorie des "incorporels". Il est étonnant de constater à quel point cette théorie s'ajuste au plus près des manifestations artistiques actuelles, et combien elle en pénètre le sens de manière intime. Elle ouvre aussi sur la compréhension des structures mises en place par la technologie du virtuel et en donne raison. Penser selon les incorporels, les fréquenter, c'est aussi comprendre ce qu'il en est de nos implicites familiers, et des fragments de temps que nous appelons "vie".
