Abstract

Wolfgang Hohl, an architecture software specialist, shows you how to use freeware correctly for architecture visualizations in 'Interactive Ambient'. The book begins with an overview of real-time visualization possibilities before showing the reader how to work with three free software packages. The guide describes the appropriate hardware and the system requirements. The reader will learn how to model the ""Wolkenbugel"" (cloud-iron) of the avant-garde architect Mart Stam (1924/25) step by step with Blender 2.43. Readers will also learn to design surface textures and create their own interact

Abstract

The development of fast scanning techniques and ultrahigh temporal resolution, which can be employed for both ECG-gated and nongated examinations of the chest, has made integrated cardiothoracic imaging a reality. This timely, well-illustrated book, written by recognized experts in the field, addresses the potential value of such imaging. The first and second parts discuss the technological background and the cardiac and coronary artery anatomy and physiology, while the third part examines heart–lung physiological and therapeutic interactions. The fourth part, which forms the main body of the book, examines in detail the various clinical applications of integrated cardiothoracic imaging, including cardiac complications of thoracic disorders, thoracic consequences of cardiac diseases, ambiguous symptomatology such as chest pain and hemoptysis, asymptomatic cardiac diseases, pericardial disease, and lung perfusion evaluation. A principal aim of the book is to demonstrate that general radiologists can participate in screening for cardiac and coronary artery lesions in at-risk populations scanned owing to respiratory symptoms.

Abstract

There are many areas of science and engineering where three-dimensional (3-D) discrete data are collected and analyzed, such as medical imaging and geoscience. To design and to prove the validity of computational procedures for processing and analysis of such data, the need for a mathematical theory and algorithms for image processing is essential. Self-contained, accessible, and mathematically precise, this book serves as an introduction to the field of 3-D digital image processing, providing information that can be used immediately in practical algorithms for the analysis of 3-D data sets. By presenting problems of processing and analysis of practical 3-D data sets, readers will find the descriptions clear and accessible as concepts and methods are carefully introduced, defined, and illustrated with examples. A key textbook for graduates and resource for all working in areas of multidimensional image processing and analysis, this book is also excellent for self-study for practitioners in the field of 3-D digital image processing.

Abstract

This book provides an introduction to the foundations of three-dimensional computer vision and describes recent contributions to the field. Geometric methods include linear and bundle adjustment based approaches to scene reconstruction and camera calibration, stereo vision, point cloud segmentation, and pose estimation of rigid, articulated, and flexible objects. Photometric techniques evaluate the intensity distribution in the image to infer three-dimensional scene structure, while real-aperture approaches exploit the behavior of the point spread function. It is shown how the integration of several methods increases reconstruction accuracy and robustness. Applications scenarios include industrial quality inspection, metrology, human-robot-interaction, and remote sensing.

Abstract

3D imaging sensors have been investigated for several decades. Recently, - provements on classical approaches such as stereo vision and structured light on the one hand, and novel time-of-?ight (ToF) techniques on the other hand have emerged, leading to 3D vision systems with radically improvedcharacter- tics. Presently, these techniques make full-range 3D data available at interactive frame rates, and thus open the path toward a much broader application of 3D vision systems. The workshop on Dynamic 3D Vision (Dyn3D) was held in conjunction with the annual conference of the German Association of Pattern Recognition (DAGM) in Jena on September 9, 2009. Previous workshops in this series have focused on the same topic, i.e., the Dynamic 3D Vision workshopin conjunction with the DAGM conference in 2007 and the CVPR workshop Time of Flight Camera-Based Computer Vision (TOF-CV) in 2008. The goal of this year’s workshop, as for the prior events, was to constitute a platform for researchers working in the ?eld of real-time range imaging, where all aspects, from sensor evaluation to application scenarios, are addressed. After a very competitive and high-quality reviewing process, 13 papers were accepted for publication in this LNCS issue. The research area on dynamic 3D vision proved to be extremely lively. Again, as for prior workshops on this ?eld, numerous new insights and novel approaches on time-of-?ight sensors, on re- time mono- and multidimensional data processing and on various applications are presented in these workshop proceedings.

Abstract

This book is about visualization, systematically incorporating the fantastic human pattern recognition into the problem-solving process, and focusing on parallel coordinates. The barrier, imposed by our three-dimensional habitation and perceptual experience, has been breached by this innovative and versatile methodology. The accurate visualization of multidimensional problems and multivariate data unlocks insights into the role of dimensionality. Beginning with an introductory chapter on geometry, the mathematical foundations are intuitively developed, interlaced with applications to data mining, information visualization, computer vision, geometric modeling, collision avoidance for air traffic and process-control. Many results appear for the first time. Multidimensional lines, planes, proximities, surfaces and their properties are unambiguously recognized (i.e. convexity viewed in any dimension) enabling powerful construction algorithms (for intersections, interior-points, linear-programming). Key features of Parallel Coordinates: * An easy-to-read self-contained chapter on data mining and information visualization * Numerous exercises with solutions, from basic to advanced topics, course projects and research directions * "Fast Track" markers throughout provide a quick grasp of essential material. * Extensive bibliography, index, and a chapter containing a collection of recent results (i.e. visualizing large networks, complex-valued functions and more) Parallel Coordinates requires only an elementary knowledge of linear algebra. It is well-suited for self-study and as a textbook (or companion) for courses on information visualization, data mining, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, finance, management, manufacturing, in scientific disciplines and even the arts.
