Enterprise Networks and Logistics for Agile Manufacturing presents a focused collection of quality chapters on state-of-the-art research efforts in the areas of enterprise networks and logistics, as well as their practical applications towards agile manufacturing. Rapid Modelling and Quick Response is a proceedings volume of selected papers presented at the Second Rapid Modelling Conference “Quick Response – Intersection of Theory and Practice” presents new research developments, as well as business/teaching cases in the field of rapid modelling and quick response linked with performance improvements (based on lead time reduction, etc., as well as financial performance measures). Enterprise networks offer a wide range of new business opportunities, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises that are usually more flexible than larger companies. In order to be successful, however, performances and expected benefits have to be carefully evaluated and balanced: enterprises must ensure they become a member of the right network for the right task and must find an efficient, flexible, and sustainable working practice. A promising approach to finding such a practice is to combine analytical methods and knowledge-based approaches, in a distributed context.
