Das Internationale Handbuch der Kriminologie dient Lehr-, Forschungs- und Nachschlagezwecken und informiert über alle wesentlichen Bereiche der Kriminologie auf dem neuesten internationalen und nationalen Stand der Forschung. Dabei legt es besonderes Gewicht auf die europäische und internationale, sozialwissenschaftliche und empirische Kriminologie, ohne die deutschsprachige Kriminologie zu vernachlässigen. In der ersten Sektion geht es um die Kriminologie als autonome, interdisziplinäre und internationale Wissenschaft. Begriff und Aufgaben, europäische und nordamerikanische Geschichte, Theorien und Methoden der Kriminologie werden dargestellt. Die Kapitel der zweiten Sektion kreisen um Kriminalitätsumfang, -verbreitung und -vorhersage. Die Dimensionen der Kriminalität sind das Thema der dritten Sektion. Die vierte Sektion befasst sich mit Formen der Kriminalität. Die fünfte Sektion widmet sich der sorgfältigen Aufarbeitung der Verbrechensverhütung, der Polizeiwissenschaft, -theorie und -forschung, der Sanktionsforschung und der Behandlung von Sexualstraftätern. The International Handbook is to be published in two volumes. The first volume with 25 chapters is dedicated to the basic principles of criminology. The second volume with 35 articles is occupied with special criminological problems. The sixty chapters of the two volumes are dealt with by forty leading criminologists of ten countries. The International Handbook is providing information on all essential fields of criminology. It gives information on the level of the latest criminological research outcome. Comprehensive bibliographies lead the way to a deepening of criminological knowledge. The International Handbook can be used as basic literature in criminological research and as instrument of daily decision making for the practitioner of the criminal justice system. It places great emphasis on the international and interdisciplinary approaches of criminology. It focusses on theoretical and empirical research work of the sociological, psychological and socialpsychological criminology.
