Soignies intra-muros tire son attrait d'une allure traditionnelle que lui confère l'inflexion de ses petites rues convergeant vers l'imposante collégiale Saint-Vincent. Placée au rang du patrimoine exceptionnel de Wallonie, cet édifice millénaire, d'une remarquable authenticité, constitue la clé de voûte du paysage sonégien et de l'histoire de cette ancienne "bonne ville" de Hainaut. En effet, la "cité de saint Vincent" fut, durant l'Ancien Régime, une seigneurie ecclésiastique aux mains d'un puissant chapitre de chanoines. De cette époque subsitsent notamment plusieurs demeures canoniales à l'architecture soignée et des chapelles classées, dont celle du Vieux Cimetière formant, avec son écrin arboré parsemé de monuments funéraires et votifs, un site privilégié. This book is a history of the architecture produced in Turkey under the Ottoman Empire. It focuses on extant buildings in the Republic of Turkey, particularly those in Istanbul and the empire's earlier capitals in Bursa and Edirne. The book begins with a brief history of the Ottoman Empire, followed by an outline of the main features of Ottoman architecture and its decoration, then a brief biography of the great Ottoman architect Sinan.
