Abstract

Chest Imaging offers a concise introduction to radiographic chest procedures through a methodical, pattern-driven approach. Filled with high-resolution images, this practical guide provides a thorough explanation of key terms, concepts, and procedures useful for medical students, radiology residents, and others to learn the basics of the plain film chest x-ray (CXR). The book includes a companion online resource at www.robochest.com designed for use in combination to provide students with numerous examples of clinically significant abnormalities commonly detected on CXRs. Chapters present a structured lexicon to teach students to reproducibly describe radiographic abnormalities of the chest detected on CXRs. Topics present specific combinations of distinct radiographic findings in relation to classes and groupings of pathological etiologies of those findings. Recognizing individual findings and identifying their combination or lack of combination with other findings allows students to learn effective differential diagnoses. Chest Imaging includes hundreds of radiographs, CTs, graphics, mnemonics, differentials, and analogous models to help teach otherwise complex processes and radiographic principles.

Abstract

Case Studies in Chest Imaging is a collection of 100 real cases, which demonstrate the use of modern imaging techniques and illustrate the appropriate use of imaging in the investigation of pathology. Compiled by experts in the field, Case Studies in Chest Imaging  uses the most up-to-date and high quality images, including plain films,  standard Multi Slice and High Resolution Thoracic CT scans. Each case is presented in a pedagogical style, with 1-4 images and accompanying questions, followed by answers and further relevant images. This is then augmented by an explanation of the imaging and key teaching points with references for further reading, making this book a valuable learning guide in an accessible form for respiratory and acute physicians, and radiologists in training.

Abstract

It is now 20 years since thoracoscopic surgery first entered everyday hospital practice, revolutionizing surgery and offering major benefits to patients. The intervening years have witnessed rapid progress, with the development of a variety of specialized techniques and equipment.   This superbly illustrated book provides authoritative and comprehensive descriptions of the various minimally invasive techniques that are currently employed in thoracic and cardiac surgery. A wide range of thoracoscopic procedures are explained and discussed, and detailed attention is also paid to robotic and robot-assisted surgical techniques. Throughout, the emphasis is on clear description of procedures and identification of practical aspects of relevance in surgical practice. The authors are some of the world’s most experienced thoracic and cardiac surgeons, and many of them have contributed greatly to the exploration and development of the field.  .
