Sonnie woont met mama bij de blauwe waterplas. Sonnie houdt van spetteren, zwemmen en duiken onder water met veel vriendjes. Sonnie is het stralendste eendje van de waterplas. Op een keer is er een grote, zwarte eend. De zwarte eend zoekt Sonnie op en raakt Sonnie op een akelige manier aan. De zwarte eend doet dat vaker en het lukt Sonnie niet om weg te komen. Sonnie is heel bang en het voelt heel naar. Sonnie straalt niet meer. Op een dag hoort en ziet een grote, lieve eend wat er gebeurt. De grote, lieve eend zorgt dat de zwarte eend niet meer bij Sonnie kan komen en brengt Sonnie bij mama. Mama aait Sonnie net zo lang totdat Sonnies lijfje weer goed voelt en Sonnie weer kan stralen. Daar zwemt Sonnie gaat, dat is wel duidelijk, over seksueel misbruik van kinderen. Het verhaal is voor therapeuten een ingang om met jonge kinderen te praten over ervaren seksueel misbruik en over de gevoelens die een kind daarbij heeft gehad. Het verhaal probeert ook ouders woorden te geven voor ervaringen die zo ingrijpend zijn dat er moeilijk woorden voor te vinden zijn.
