Influencing a whole generation of artists, musicians and theorists, since the late 1970s Christian Marclay has explored the interplay between sound, audio cultures and art across a diversity of media: performance, sculpture, photography, collage, musical composition, film, video and installation. Born in 1955, Marclay first became internationally known in the 1980s for his sculptures and reassembled readymades generated from evocative materials such as fragmented vinyl records or album covers. His ambitious multi-screen installations such as 'Video Quartet' (2002), 'Crossfire' (2007) and 'The Clock' (2010) have entranced audiences into contemplating the complexities of time and narrative and the role of sound in their experience and representation. Marclay has also collaborated musically with Shelley Hirsch, the Kronos Quartet, Zeena Parkins, Elliott Sharp, Sonic Youth and John Zorn, among many others.

"Mark Leckey - On Pleasure Bent" is the first comprehensive monograph on the British artist's work. Tracing in reverse chronology the connections between his recent production - including videos, sculptures, installations, and lecture performances - and his earliest works from the mid and late 1990s, this publication reveals the persistent centrality of popular culture, music, and technology to Leckey's influential oeuvre. All the artist's scripts to date appear together for the first time in this lavishly illustrated volume.

Bruce Nauman (b. 1941) is one of the most innovative, provocative and influential artists working today. His pioneering explorations of sculpture, performance, sound, video and installations--always questioning the role of the artist--have broken new ground and inspired innumerable artists' careers. Confronted with what to do in his studio soon after graduating, Nauman had the simple but profound realization that "If I was an artist and I was in the studio, then whatever I was doing in the studio must be art. At this point art became more of an activity and less of a product." Exploring Nauman's relationship to the place where he creates his strikingly original works, this book retraces back to the artist's youth in Fort Wayne, Indiana, his graduate work at the University of California, Davis, through to the present day. Nauman's continual search for new means and sources of expression have led him to experiment with a very wide variety of medium (photography, performance, sculpture, installations, video, neon sign, and sound) as well as to explore the relationship between words and images. Nauman's apotheosis as one of the world's most highly lauded artists came as he was ranked No. 1 in the world by Artfacts.net in 2006, and he was the sole US representative in the American Pavilion at the 2009 Venice Biennale.

This volume offers a comprehensive look at the career of Mika Rottenberg (born 1976). Each chapter is devoted to one of the major videos/installations for which Rottenberg has become known, with an abundance of installation views, video stills, planning diagrams and source materials. Additional illumination is provided through texts by Rottenberg herself that accompany each project. The book also includes drawing and photography, significant bodies of work by Rottenberg not previously explored in book form. Also included is a major new text by award-winning poet, novelist, humorist and cultural critic Wayne Koestenbaum, as well as texts on the artist by Rose Art Museum director Christopher Bedford, and author and theorist Julia Bryan-Wilson. The book also contains a thorough biography and bibliography of the artist to date, making this a comprehensive resource on Rottenberg.
