"The fascinating life and work of Eve Arnold (1912-2012) - the first woman to join Magnum Photos and one of the most accomplished photojournalists of her time. Renowned for her intimate portraits of figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth II, Malcolm X and Joan Crawford, Arnold was equally comfortable documenting the lives of the poor and dispossessed: "I don't see anybody as either ordinary or extraordinary. I see them simply as people in front of my lens."--Publisher's description.

Since 2011, Titus Simoens has been working on a series of pictures of school pupils under strict regimes. In these very different school lives, rigid discipline brings a sense of order, while years are spent on special forms of education, with the aim of giving the pupils prospects for the future. Simoens’ honest images capture these little moments of despair, camaraderie, loneliness and pleasure, in which the students escape the heavy hand of discipline and obedience.

(Bron: catalogus Docatlas Antwerpen)

"David Wojnarowicz's use of photography was remarkably innovative, as was his unprecedented way of addressing the AIDS crisis and issues of censorship, homophobia, and narrative. Brush Fires in the Social Landscape, begun in collaboration with the artist before his death in 1992 and first published in 1994, engaged throse who Wojnarowicz would refer to as his 'tribe' or community. Now on the twentieth anniversary of Brush Fires, when interest in the artists' work has increased exponentially, Aperture has expanded and redesigned this seminal publication to be even more inclusive. It is the only book that features the breadth of Wojnarowicz's work with photography. The contributors - from artist and writer friends to the lawyer who represented him in his case against Donald Wildmon and the American Family Association, to the next generation of artists who were influenced by Wojnarowicz's sensibility - together offer a compelling, provovative understanding of the artist and his work."
