Probleemstelling:Er is nood aan een up to date wetenschappelijk gebaseerde patiëntenbrochure wat betreft preoperatieve informatieverschaffing voor volwassenen met een chronische of acute leverziekte die op de wachtlijst staan voor een levertransplantatie. Methode: Het ontwikkelen van een beroepsproduct namelijk een patiëntenbrochure. Literatuurstudie omtrent levertransplantatie, urgentie van transplantatie, Eurotransplant, wetgeving, leverpathologie, patiënteneducatie, patiëntenbrochure. Resultaten: In het begin van deze literatuurstudie wordt de theoretische kant over de verschillende aspecten en het proces van een levertransplantatie aangehaald. Daarna wordt er informatie gegeven over het doel van patiënteneducatie voor een levertransplantatie. Alvorens de patiëntenbrochure wordt vertoond in deze bachelorproef wordt er meer informatie gegeven over de nodige regels bij het maken van een patiëntenbrochure. Als laatste wordt er in het praktijkgedeelte van deze bachelorproef een patiëntenbrochure gepresenteerd die als beroepsproduct kan gebruikt worden. Conclusie: Als eindbesluit kan gesteld worden dat mensen met een chronische of acute leverziekte die op de wachtlijst staan voor een levertransplantatie nood hebben aan informatie preoperatief. De topics waar ze belang aan hechten zijn voornamelijk de preoperatieve zorgen, postoperatieve complicaties en postoperatieve zorgen. Het geven van preoperatieve patiënteneducatie zou een gunstig effect hebben op de uitkomst van de levertransplantatie.
