Pendant l’été 2017, l’association "Chemin faisant" a organisé dans la vallée de Chamonix ses traditionnelles balades de réflexion et d’échange pour explorer un postulat : l’air et l’eau appartiennent à tous. Ils sont nos biens communs, au même titre que la connaissance, et tous sont en passe de devenir de simples valeurs marchandes. En suivant ce fil, le groupe s’est retrouvé, au pied de l’emblématique Mont Blanc, le nez dans les problèmes de la "vallée la plus polluée de France". Il n’a pas détourné la tête, au contraire. Dépassant le fatalisme trop courant sur cette catastrophe écologique, il s’est tourné résolument vers le monde et l’avenir. Que faire ? Où sont les solutions ? Ils ont tenté d'inventer ensemble un nouvel horizon : le philosophe, l’historien, l'économiste, les militants, des élus locaux ou de simples curieux… Le résultat est un dialogue vivant et vivifiant, plein d’allers-retours stimulants entre les problèmes très concrets et les envolées poétiques ou politiques, philosophiques et utopiques.
