En un peu plus de vingt années, l’environnement médiatique et technologique des familles s’est sensiblement modifié. Les enfants grandissent désormais dans un monde d’écrans. En effet, chaque unité familiale est équipée de matériels technologiques de formats divers, aux nombreuses fonctionnalités, interconnectables, fixes et nomades, utilisables par chacun, quel que soit son âge. La sur-stimulation audiovisuelle précoce et la surexposition aux écrans sont source d’inquiétudes et objets fréquents de débats. Dans l’enquête menée de façon indépendante auprès de professionnels de l’enfance, l’auteur scrute les conséquences d’un trop-plein d’écrans pour la santé, le développement et le bien-être des moins de 16 ans. Son objectif est de considérer avec lucidité les problèmes de tous ordres occasionnés par les écrans – y compris les enjeux de l’économie du numérique et le pouvoir financier des grandes firmes impliquées dans ce vaste marché – pour mieux les prévenir.
