In an era of climate change, resource scrambles and digital revolution, when nations are rejecting open borders and turning inward, what will become of our borders ? The author takes us on a journey into tomorrow's geopolitical conflicts. From no man's lands to the space race, we discover how the best-known border conflicts of our age are intensifying, and explore the dangerous and often unexpected sites of border conflict that are revealing themselves, from the highest peaks to deep under sea. Along the way, the author asks what borders reveal of our modern world. How are they built; what do they mean for citizens and governments; how do they help us understand our political past and, most importantly, predict our planetary future ?

"When the 1998 Good Friday Agreement brought an end to decades of conflict, which was mainly focused on the existence of the Irish border, most breathed a sigh of relief. Then came Brexit. Border Ireland: From Partition to Brexit introduces readers to the Irish border. It considers the process of bordering after the partition of Ireland, to the Good Friday Agreement and attendant debordering, to the post-Brexit landscape. The United Kingdom's departure from the European Union meant rebordering in some form. That departure also reinvigorated the push for a 'united Ireland' and borderlessness on the Island. As well as providing a nuanced assessment that will be of interest to followers of UK/Irish relations and European Studies, this book's analysis of processes of bordering/debordering/rebordering helps to inform our understanding of borders more generally. Students and scholars of European Studies, Border Studies, Politics, and International Relations, as well as anyone else with a general interest in the Irish border will find this book an insightful and historically-grounded aid to contemporary events"--

1962 Border War: Sino-Indian Territorial Disputes and Beyond studies the historical antecedents of the origin and developments of the border dispute between the two Asian giantsIndia and China. It investigates why these newborn republics, despite their close ties in the international politics, chose a path of a large-scale military encounter in the winter of 1962. This book uses the classified Henderson Brooks-Bhagat Report and the CIA Staff Study Report to answer this question. The book debates how far internal bureaucratic hurdles, political intrigues and partisan interest in New Delhi have factored against Nehrus China Policy. Further, this study reveals the impact of Cold War politics, CIA operations on the frontiers and the US strategy of projecting the Tibet factor on these two nations. The key significance of this study is that it reveals the historical factors behind the Sino-Indian frequent and ongoing skirmishes along the border.
